Workshops Range from Understanding the Legislative Process to Fostering New Laws
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) will be holding monthly, lobbying workshops across Massachusetts beginning later this month. The workshops are open to members of the public who are interested in learning about the legislative process and how they can use their voice to make a difference for animals by affecting public policy.
Lobby 101: An introductory program focusing on the legislative process, current pending legislation, how the MSPCA selects issues to pursue legislatively, and how residents can influence legislators.
Lobby 102: This workshop builds on the knowledge from Lobby 101 and is geared for advocates wanting to become more involved in animal welfare legislation and devote more time to specific issues. The workshop includes presentations from residents who have pursued animal welfare ordinances within their communities and discussions regarding proceeding with future legislation.
*It is not necessary to attend a Lobby 101 to attend a Lobby 102 however basic comprehension of the legislative process and animal protection issues is requested.
