Boston, Mass., Jan. 13, 2012 – The Angell Animal Medical Center announced today the addition of two new members to its world-class medical team. Jeff Wilson, DVM, DACVA—who is board certified in anesthesiology —will administer and oversee local and regional anesthesia across Angell’s many specialty services. Kirstin Johnson, DVM, DACVIM, specializes in internal medicine and will see patients on a Friday-to-Monday schedule, significantly extending weekend appointment opportunities for Angell clients.
Dr. Wilson joins Angell from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. He has a special interest and expertise in local and regional anesthetic techniques such as epidural and nerve block procedures, which have been shown to decrease recovery times after surgeries and other procedures. The addition of Dr. Wilson makes Angell one of the only full-service animal hospitals in Massachusetts with a board-certified anesthesiologist working with patients across cardiology, pain medicine, dentistry, surgery and other specialty services.
Dr. Johnson completed her residency in small animal internal medicine at Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She joins Angell after working at a specialty hospital in Westbury, New York. Her areas of clinical expertise include laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures as well as immune-related, respiratory and renal disease.
“Adding Drs. Wilson and Johnson to our team is a tremendous coup for Angell Animal Medical Center and the community we serve,” said Ann Marie Manning, Angell’s Chief of Staff. “Both Jeff and Kirstin bring a wealth of experience that will strengthen our services immeasurably while ensuring clients and referring veterinarians have access to the most contemporary treatments available in veterinary science today.”
