BOSTON, May 21, 2012 – The MSPCA-Angell today announced an action-packed agenda for its annual Spring Gala, to be held Wednesday, May 23 at WGBH-TV studios in Brighton, Mass. This year’s theme is “MySPCA” and the more than 400 expected guests will have ample opportunity to celebrate the many ways the MSPCA has touched their lives, and the lives of their pets. The event also serves as a signature fundraiser for the MSPCA; the organization hopes to raise over $450,000 to support its ongoing shelter, advocacy, law enforcement and veterinary programs.
WCVB-TV anchor and passionate animal champion Randy Price will again emcee the Gala, which will run from 6:00p.m. to 9:30p.m. The event, which promises to be an evening to remember, kicks off with dinner at WGBH’s spectacular atrium followed by MSPCA-Angell President Carter Luke’s “Animal Tales” presentation, which will overview several heartwarming stories of animals the MSPCA helped in the course of the last year.
Featured Live Auction Item: Meet Justin Bieber
The Spring Gala will again include a live auction with all proceeds earmarked for the MSPCA’s animal protection programs. The top item on auction this year is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend pop star Justin Bieber’s next concert in Boston. The prize includes a “meet and greet” element as well, so the top bidder will be able to meet the pop superstar in person.
Other live auction items include a poker night with New York Times Bestselling author Ben Mezrich at TRADE restaurant; a luxury island getaway for six to Isla Mujeres in Mexico; and several other fabulous prizes.
The Spring Gala’s best-selling raffle package is also back by popular demand and the raffle prizes are as high-end as they are diverse. Prizes include a VIP package for pets, which includes in-home photography by noted photographer Topher Cox, free food and treats for a year from Polka Dog Bakery, and dog training or supplies from Especially for Pets. The array of other prizes to be raffled off includes tickets to major Boston-area concerts, museums and theater performances; flowers from world-renowned Winston Flowers; a Vermont getaway at the luxurious Blue Horse Inn; and more.
Said Wendy Goldstein Pierce, founder of Goldstein Pierce Public Relations and Chair of this year’s Spring Gala: “I’m so honored to chair this amazing event and join hundreds of guests and generous sponsors to salute the animal companions in our lives. With a fun-filled agenda and many exciting auction packages, our guests will get to celebrate the MSPCA’s truly important mission with animal lovers from every community around the city while enjoying a spectacular evening.”
