Runners Lace up their Sneakers for MSPCA-Angell’s Run Fur Fun 5K

BOSTON, Nov. 6, 2012 – With a weekend forecast expected to be sunny and brisk, hundreds of runners and their dogs—as well as a number of local corporate sponsors—are gearing up for the MSPCA-Angell Run Fur Fun 5K, presented by  The race, to be held Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10:00a.m. at Artesani  Park in Brighton, Mass., has drawn over 500 registrants and is officially sold out.

Race registration is now closed, given the volume of runners who have signed up to run on Saturday.  All proceeds raised from the run will benefit the MSPCA’s state-wide Law Enforcement, Advocacy, Adoption Center and Veterinary programs, which provide direct hands-on care for tens of thousands of animals every year.

The race course is flat and fast and, because there are no road crossings, impressive times are expected among the top male and female finishers.  There will be awards for the top finishers in seven different age groups as well as awards for the top three dogs in “small,” “medium” and “large” categories.

Nov. 15, 2012 - With the results tallied it's clear that the MSPCA-Angell Run Fur Fun was one for the record books!  So far the race has raised over $27,000 in donations to fuel the MSPCA's veterinary, advocacy, adoption center and law enforcement programs.  The first place dog finisher, "Scout," crossed the finish line with his owner Joe McCabe--a mere six months after Scout was abandoned in a parking lot.  The best t-shirt award went to "Team Sully."  Sully the dog, who recently had a leg amputated at Angell Animal Medical Center, looked on as his family (including other four-legged friends) ran the race.  Finally, three vacuum cleaners were raffled off by the MSPCA's presenting sponsors,
