Our 3rd grade GS troop at Hunnewell Elementary in Wellesley created colorful signs to place around their school with pictures of animals, and telling about the MSPCA wish-list items. All 24 girls participated in morning announcements over 3 days to inform the school community of all the items needed by the Boston Adoption Center. An article was also placed in the school newsletter informing parents about the Wish list drive. Some of the girls helped with our 3 morning drop-off curb-side collections. Several of the girls also solicited donations door-to-door from neighbors they knew already. On the final day of the drive, we packed up the cars, and drove to the Boston MSPCA Adoption Center with all our donations and carried them into the shelter. We then had a tour of the facility. The girls loved finding out about how the shelter helps homeless animals, and especially enjoyed getting to pet several of the animals.
The girls loved meeting and helping the animals, and they earned an MSPCA patch for their vest!
