Blu

Blu was surrendered to the Cape Cod adoption center at five months old.  The reason?  His previous owners said they simply “don’t want” him any longer.  After just one week, Joanne and Eric met him and DID want him!

We adopted Blu back in May.  I saw those gorgeous eyes looking up at me and it was love at first sight.  I have to admit I was a little hesitant to adopt a Pit Bull...but after seeing him I went home and did some research and decided I felt confident that I could adopt this dog.  I got the call that we had been chosen for Blu and went to pick him up...it was the best decision I've made in a long time.  This dog is just fantastic!

We brought him home to meet our kitty Nobska...they are about the same age...and after about a week of the cat investigating the dog, the love-fest began.  These two are buddies for sure.  They chase each other...the cat ambushes him and off they go.  They sleep together and Nobska frequently eats out of Blu's bowl.  Blu shows absolutely no food aggression.  He shares well!

My dad is 81 (that's him in the picture with Blu)...he owns a Lab/Pit Bull mix named Moxie...she came from a very bad home and is not dog or people friendly, but Blu's brought out the best in Moxie.  She tolerates him well...even when he decides to sit on top of her when she's sleeping.  They walk great together.  They can eat out of the same bowl...Blu is so laid back that it appears Moxie doesn't view him as any threat and she just puts up with his clumsy, goofy attitude.  Blu is so good with my parents...my mom is very ill and I spend a lot of time at their house.  Blu blends right in and boy does he make my father laugh with the things he does.  Blu will stretch and roll right off the love seat...or get a toy and whip it around until he falls over on his side.  He's such a clown!  He goes into my mom's bedroom and curls up on her chair next to her bed and just watches over her.  Of course he's also hoping she'll slip him some toast or a cookie.  Speaking of which, he even takes food out of your hand "soft"...he's so gentle with things like that.

Blu loves the beach.  He can't wait to get into the tall beach grass and have a "Pit fit"...he tucks in his bum and tears around in the grass until he exhausts himself.  We also had a few parties over the summer and Blu greeted the guests with nothing but tail wagging excitement.  He's super friendly with people and has never shown any aggression.  I've had some friends who stated they were afraid of Pit Bulls...but once they came here and met him their entire attitude changed.  I have more people ask me how Blu is than ask me how my fiancé is!  He steals peoples’ hearts with those eyes and that lovable nature.

Blu is by far the best dog I've ever had.  I am a total convert to this breed.  I honestly hope more people give this breed a chance and can experience the joy, loyalty, and zest for life these dogs have.  Thank you thank you thank you MSPCA for choosing us to be Blu's people...WE LOVE HIM!!
