Dayja
October 29, 2010

Dayja became part of our family 6 months ago and she makes us laugh and smile every day. She loves to snuggle and go for car rides, but her all-time favorite thing to do is visit with my elderly parents. This summer she really bonded with my 85 year old dad. Dayja seems to know how much he enjoys being around her because when we visit she will frequently settle by his feet.  (Of course, the fact that he supplies her with lots of bones doesn't hurt.) It's heartwarming - since her being around brings him so much joy.

Dayja exemplifies what this breed is all about: a constantly wagging tail, big smile, and ability to learn quickly and a willingness to try new things! In fact, this summer, she learned to go in the water and swim!  Clearly, she didn't enjoy this summer pastime with her prior family, but with the help and encouragement of some friendly local dogs, she discovered the joy of being in water. We look forward to taking her on our snowshoeing adventures this winter. She's proving to be a very sporty, adventure-loving dog -- just the kind of dog we wanted!
