Macy

When Macy (formerly Melody) was brought to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, it was because her family lost their home and was unable to find housing that allowed Pit Bulls.  Within weeks, this sweet girl found her forever home.

Our Pit Bull, Macy, adopted us earlier this year.  Although not opposed to owning a Pit Bull, we weren’t considering adopting one because we thought that owning such a dog would present challenges, due to the negative connotations associated with the name “Pit Bull”.  However, after reading her profile on the shelter’s website, visiting her at the shelter, and speaking with the staff about her, this friendly dog had won us over and it was impossible for us not to take her home!  Macy has been a wonderful addition to our family.  She’s a happy-go-lucky dog who always wants to be by our sides and loves going for rides, chasing tennis balls, playing with her jolly ball, and cuddling on the couch with us.  She greets us with kisses every morning and snuggles with us in bed at night.

Macy has also been an ambassador for the breed, and has left a positive impression on the members of our community who have approached us during our walks – some who have never “seen” a Pit Bull up close or even knew what one looked like, but had heard enough negative stories to be afraid of them.  Macy’s wagging tail and kisses soon win them over, and after talking to them about her and the breed, they walk away having a new appreciation for Pit Bulls.

Our lives have been so much fuller since Macy came into it, and I can’t imagine it any other way!
