My husband and I have been around dogs our whole lives - growing up with Doberman Pinchers, Cocker Spaniels, German Shepherds, Mini Pinchers and some mixed breeds.  Prior to adopting our Pit Bull in March of 2010, we had been “dog-less” for a few years.  My husband wanted another dog, but I didn't.  For his birthday I figured I'd surprise him with a new dog.  So I hopped in the car with the kids and told them before we got there, “Don't even think about getting a Pit Bill!”  This was because I believed the many negative things I’d heard about them.  But when we got there, my son said, “Mom, look at this dog!”  Her name was Mia, and she was so pretty and well behaved.  But being a Pit Bull, I said, “No way!”  After browsing for a bit, he convinced me to take her for a walk.  We did, and that was the end of it!  She was ours.  So far, Mia has been the best behaved, most loving, friendliest dog we've owned!  She sleeps with my son at night and is more of a family member than a pet.  We love her dearly and are so glad to have found her.  Just look at how cute she is...
