Cape Cod ACAC

Foster Program

In a perfect world, few animals would find themselves homeless and those that did would be healthy, well-behaved and adopted by a loving new owner without hesitation.

All animal lovers dream of such a place. But the heartbreaking reality is many of our community's unwanted animals find themselves in the adoption center when they are "less than desirable" in the eyes of our visitors.

Perhaps they have yet to learn the ABC's of walking on a leash or still need "reminding" in the housebreaking department. Maybe they are suffering from a treatable illness or injury and need time to recuperate before someone would consider taking them home. Whatever the case, many wonderful animals lose the chance to find a new home because of underlying medical or behavioral issues. We would like to see this change.

We Need Your Help
As heartbreaking as euthanasia is to consider, few disagree this is a humane way to end the suffering of extremely aged, ill and aggressive animals, but what about the others? The ones no one wants to see put to sleep, yet no one wants? That's where foster care becomes crucial.

We are desperately seeking responsible foster caregivers to join us in this lifesaving effort. Do you have room in your heart and home for a mother cat and her newborns, safe from the risk of illness in the adoption center, while her babies finish nursing? Do you have time to nurse a sick or injured animal back to health with our financial assistance? Would you be willing to attend dog training classes with an excitable adoption center canine? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then we need to hear from you!

Please call the Cape Cod Animal Care and Adoption Center at (508) 775-0940 so that we may add your name to our list of animal care heroes!
