a photo gallery of animals awaiting surgery
December 2, 2010

In the middle of a hectic work day, the office staff (myself included!) like to take an occassional reprieve and visit the animals in the MSPCA at Nevins Farm's holding rooms -- the areas where incoming animals are housed until they become available for adoption.  Often we like to say "hello" to the animals in the Medical Suite.  Where dogs that are scheduled for surgery tend to stay in their kennels until they are ready, cats are typically moved the day of surgery to the cages within the Suite, to make identification easier.  Sometimes, if they have a tougher recovery or are in the Suite to have a suspected injury investigated, they may reside in this room for several days.

On my latest visit, I noticed several cages of kittens awaiting their spay neuter surgeries (quite common!), but also several adults awaiting exams and minor surgical procedures.  As you can see, most of them don't mind their stay as long as they get a little attention!
