Lobby Day for Animals 2008

Lobby Day for Animals was an important day for animals in Massachusetts.
Several legislative sponsors spoke on behalf of key animal protection bills they had filed for the 2007-2008 legislative session.
Senator Jehlen (pictured to the left with Deputy Director of Advocacy, Linda Huebner) spoke on behalf of S. 2450, a bill that would update animal control laws in Massachusetts.

Representative Callahan (pictured to the right) came with the star of the event, her dog Bailey, to speak on H. 4360, a bill she sponsored that would allow judges to include pets in temporary restraining orders. Representative Kafka was also present at Lobby Day and his aide spoke on the importance of two bills, H.1527 and H.1529, which would increase penalties for being a spectator at an animal fight and prohibit depictions of animal cruelty.
Following the presentation, animal advocates met one on one with their State Senators and Representatives and their legislative staff to ask for their support on the three bills. Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Lobby Day for Animals!!
