Why we offer this program:
More than three-quarters of the animals entering area animal shelters are cats. In 2011, of the nearly 6,400 homeless animals served by MSPCA in Boston, more than 4,500 were cats. We must reduce the number of litters born to cats. This grant will help us assist those community members who want to neuter their cat but have no financial resources to do so.
Why this zip code?
Of the 100s of towns Boston MSPCA served in 2011, the highest number of kittens we received last year came from 02119. Our plan is to strategically reach the people whose cats are most likely to have kittens that end up homeless. And our statistics tell us to start in this zip code.
