Klaus Loft, DVM

Practicing in Boston

Dr. Klaus Loft joined Angell’s Dermatology service in January 2011. He graduated from the Royal Agricultural & Veterinary University of Denmark in 1999.  Upon graduation, he worked in private practice in Denmark and Sweden.  He became increasingly interested in dermatology and allergies and began to focus his case load on dermatology. Dr. Loft completed an American College of Veterinary Dermatology approved residency at Michigan State in 2007. He has worked in the greater Boston area and New England since 2007. His practice is limited to dermatology, seeing cats and dogs with chronic ear problems, severe allergies, cutaneous cancerous conditions and immune mediated skin problems. Dr. Loft has published articles and lectured both in Scandinavia and the United States. His special interests are feline dermatology and chronic ear disease.

Meagan Painter, DVM, DACVD

 Practicing at Angell West in Waltham

Dr. Meagan Painter is a Board Certified Veterinary Dermatologist. She graduated Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell in 2015. For the three years thereafter, she practiced as a resident in veterinary dermatology with Veterinary Healing Arts in East Greenwich, RI and the Animal Dermatology Group in California. Upon completion of her residency, she achieved Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. Prior to coming home to Boston, she practiced for two years in San Francisco, CA at the San Francisco Veterinary Specialists.

Brooke Simon, DVM

Dr. Simon’s lifelong passion for animals inspired her start as a veterinary assistant at Maine Coast Veterinary Hospital where she worked for 10 years prior to attending the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. After receiving her doctorate in veterinary medicine, Dr. Simon went on to pursue an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Angell Animal Medical Center before completing her dermatology residency at Dermatology for Animals in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rebecca Chamberlin, CVT, Dermatology Technician

Rebecca grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science with the goal of working with elephants. Her love for elephants had her doing various summer internships; from an elephant sanctuary in the states to spending 3 weeks volunteering at an elephant orphanage in Sri Lanka. She continued working with elephants and other large animals for several years.

Upon relocating to CA in 2015 Rebecca thought about going back to school to become a pastry chef since she greatly enjoys baking but after only a few months working in a bakery she realized how much she missed working with animals.

She decided to continue her education in 2016 and signed up for the veterinary technician program at Carrington College.  Upon graduating she received RVT in CA. Not too soon after she moved across the country to be closer to family and received her CVT for RI and MA.

In her spare time she enjoys cooking and baking and loves spending time outdoors, especially at the beach.

Kaylee McPhail, CVT, Dermatology Technician

Kaylee graduated from North Shore Community College in 2015 with a degree in Veterinary Technology and became a CVT in 2016. She joined Angell shortly after and worked in Inpatient services, eventually moving to the Critical Care Unit caring for intensive care patients. Prior to Angell, Kaylee worked at an animal shelter in her hometown and as a groomer’s assistant. Her passion for animal healthcare has led her to a variety of positions within Angell including Critical Care, Surgery, Anesthesia and now the Dermatology service. When not caring for her fuzzy, feathered and scaly friends here at Angell she can be found snuggling her oversized cat King George or hiking the trails in the woods of Dogtown.

Bess Winters, CVT, Dermatology Technician

Bess graduated Mount Ida College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. During her senior year, Bess interned at Angell in avian and exotic medicine as well as emergency and critical care. After working as a technician for two years at a VCA general practice, Bess wished to pursue a specialty. In the fall of 2020, Bess joined the Angell West dermatology team excited to start this new chapter of her professional life. A few months after joining the Angell West team, Bess became a CVT (certified veterinary technician). When not working, Bess can be found painting, or spending time with her menagerie of pets including her dog, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, guinea pigs, and snakes.
