What is a Veterinary Radiation Oncologist?

A board-certified veterinary radiation oncologist is a veterinarian who specializes in the use of radiation therapy for the treatment of cancer. After receiving a degree in veterinary medicine (DVM), he/she has received post-graduate training in a residency program accredited by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) and has successfully completed the testing requirements established by the ACVR. A veterinary radiation oncologist works in close associated with medical oncologists and surgeons when a multi-disciplinary approach to cancer management is indicated.
