Everyone at the shelter agrees that Wendy is one big sweetheart and mush pot! As you can see by her pictures, she has the best silly side, ever, especially when playing with her favorite stuffed toys. If you`re re hoping to be smothered with love and to have a new adventure pal, she would be happy to fulfill that need. Wendy is a big, strong lady so her dog walking buddies and human companions should be comfortable with her size. She also has quite the nose for smaller critters, so no cat friends, please. Wendy is a super smart girl and loves learning new things, especially when a yummy treat is the reward. Don`t miss out on the opportunity to add the best girl ever to your family. Mere is a social girl who enjoys long walks and a great squeaker toy. This sweet lady is very sweet and is perfecting her loose leash walking skills , she loves learning new things, especially when that means treats! Mere is amazing at fetch, bringing the tennis ball right back to you and dropping it at your feet, to throw again- she gets all the exercise, while stay in one place. After play time, this good girl loves to lay close by and relax. She`d prefer to be an only dog, but a dog-savvy cat could be a good match with a proper slow introduction. We think she`d do best in a home with older, respectful kids that understand her personal space. If you think she`s just right for you and why wouldn`t you, please stop by the shelter and chat with staff about this beauty.

Lainey is a one-year-old female Lab/mastiff mix whos ready to bring joy, laughter, and endless fetch sessions into your life. This bubbly ball of energy is looking for a loving home where she can shine and be the loyal companion youve always dreamed of. Laineys enthusiasm for life is infectious! Her heart is as big as her energy, and shes eager to form a deep bond with her forever family. Lainey will thrive with adopters who understand her initial shyness and can provide the love and guidance she needs. She could be a candidate for a well-matched sibling, and all introductions should be completed here at the shelter. If she sounds like the companion you have been searching for, come meet this staff favorite today!
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) theyre interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat areas will remain open to walk through.
Meet Taco: The Energetic Snack Lover. Taco is a four-legged ball of energy! He absolutely loves to play games, whether it`s chasing a ball, playing tug-of-war, or learning new tricks.
Taco has a weakness for snacks! Tacos eyes light up when he sees a delicious treat. Hes always ready to learn new tricks in exchange for a tasty reward.
Taco would thrive in a home where he can channel his playful energy and receive plenty of daily exercise. A family or individual who shares Tacos love for all things active and enjoys spending time outdoors would be a great fit. Since Taco adores snacks so much, it would be wonderful to find a home where his passion for treats can also be nurtured. He would do best in an adult only home. He says no thanks to cats, but could potentially live with a well-matched dog with lots of management.
Taco is fully vaccinated, neutered, and eagerly awaiting his forever home. If Taco feels like a good fit for your home stop by during shelter open hours!

Are you ready to open your heart to a special pup in need of a second chance? Meet Bobby, our charming 10-month-old male dog who’s patiently waiting for his forever home.
Bobby’s Story:
Bobby’s journey hasn’t been easy, but his resilience shines through. He arrived at the shelter with some nervousness around people. While he may not be an instant cuddle buddy, he has so much love to give once he feels safe and secure.
Bobby’s zoomies are the cutest thing you’ll ever witness! When he gets excited, he’ll prance around, showcasing his joyful spirit.
Although he’s initially shy, he’s a social butterfly when it comes to his four-legged friends. Bobby has interacted wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments during his stay at the shelter. If you have a furry companion at home, consider bringing them to the shelter for a meet-and-greet to see if they hit it off.
Bobby’s not a fan of being touched right away. But don’t let that deter you! He’s looking for a patient family willing to give him the time he needs to build trust and confidence.
The Adoption Process:
We want to ensure that Bobby finds the perfect home, so we have a few steps in place:
It’s likely that Bobby will need a few meetings to establish a bond, so please be prepared to visit him multiple times.
If you have a dog at home, feel free to bring them to the shelter for a friendly introduction to see if they could become lifelong pals.
Bobby’s Dream Home:
Bobby’s ideal home is a quiet and patient one, where he can continue to build his confidence at his own pace. He’s a sweet and sensitive boy who deserves a loving family willing to give him the second chance he so desperately craves.
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to Bobby, please stop by today!
Make sure you have a dog friend at home before you invite Marty to the party because he definitely needs a buddy at home that he can be a shadow to. And the invitation list to this party will need to be very short as in household members only, since this 8 month old cutie is a super shy, worried boy. Although he may never be a social butterfly, he has all the potential to become a wonderful family dog. A low traffic home, where there are not different people in and out, is the ideal environment for him to blossom. Adopters should plan on giving Marty however much time he needs to settle in at his new home without having to meet anyone that doesn`t live with him or go anywhere. This is called decompression time, which is extremely important for dogs that have had many transitions in a short time. Marty needs this time to adjust to household living, bond with his humans and his family needs time to see what makes him feel most comfortable and safe. He should have a safe confinement area where he can go to relax and rest whenever he needs a break. A resident dog friend is a must for this good boy, a cat buddy is a maybe and any kids in the family will need to have great shy dog skills and not overwhelm him as he transitions to the home. If you think your home may be a great fit and you`d love to help a deserving young dog find his happy ever after, please stop by the shelter to talk to staff.
**Marty is currently in a foster home and first requires a conversation with staff prior to setting up an in-person meet!
Big boy, big fun and lots of love. Jo Jo is a four year old good boy that`s looking for a family to call his own. Along with regular exercise and play time, Jo Jo loves to train, especially when a yummy treat is the reward. Because he has had quite a few transactions in a short time, his adopters should plan on giving Jo Jo plenty of time settle in at home with just household members. This decompression time is extremely important as it allows him to start bonding with his family, while giving his family an opportunity to understand what makes him feel comfortable. He will flourish in a neighborhood that does not have a huge dog population as he can be a bit vocal when seeing them. Jo Jo can potentially live with another dog that is tolerant of his somewhat forward, vocal style of play. A dog savvy cat is a possibility as long as adopters are ready for the management it will entail for success . Older, sturdy kids that are comfortable with a sometimes bouncy, always happy guy will be okay. If you`d like to add some happy to your home, please stop by the shelter and chat with staff.

Winnie has stolen the hearts of staff and volunteers and once you meet her, she`ll steal yours, too. She`s a happy, good girl that loves to spend time with her humans. In fact, if you happen to work from home, she can be your fabulous assistant, sleeping in her bed or quietly enjoying some enrichment. Of course, like most assistants, Winnie may interrupt you from time to time with important things like needing a pet or a little sniffy walk. Winnie also settles very nicely in her crate. This sensitive gal will need a quieter neighborhood and a lower traffic, mellow home, so she can settle into a predictable routine. She has benefited greatly from seeing a veterinary behaviorist that has prescribed medications that help her be the best version of herself. This will need to be continued in her new home in order for her to be successful. Winnie previously lived with a chihuahua friend and they enjoyed snuggle and playtime together. Although she`s a larger girl, she seems more comfortable with small dogs and may be able to have a well matched resident friend . Winnie has not lived with a cat, but with slow introductions, it is a possibility. Winnie would likely feel most comfortable in an adult home, but could potentially live with a quieter older teen . Winnie is a charmer for sure, that big grin and curly tail just makes you smile. If you think your home would be a great fit for this special gal, please stop by the shelter during open hours to talk to staff.
Jobee, a remarkable 3 year old pittie, is lucky to be alive and has defied all odds on his journey to recovery. This is the most severe case of intentional starvation we have ever encountered. The good new is that Jobees health has significantly improved and he is now just a normal happy boy. Through all his care he has been nothing but sweet and of course everyone has fallen in love with this special boy.
Jobee is absolutely the happiest dog you will ever meet! He is always ready for a cuddle, game of fetch or a walk around the neighborhood. You like to hike … so does he! Want to go for a car ride to the local ice cream shop … he will be the first one in the car. Basically whatever you love to do he will be right there with you making him the bestest best friend around! But don’t worry he understands that there are times when you have to work or make dinner. He loves his toys and can easily amuse himself by tossing toys in the air or endlessly squeaking a stuffy. He is also really good at puzzle toys and is hoping you love creating puzzles as much as he loves solving them.
Jobee loves his people and is very enthusiasti when he sees you! Overall he is very well mannered, but could use some help learning calm meet and greets. Luckily he is very smart and loves to learn new things so if you are looking to train then he is your boy!
We can 100% guarantee that meeting Jobee will put a giant smile on your face. You have kids … no problem … Jobee loves all the extra snuggles that come with kids! Jobee’s bigger than life personality means he should be the only pet in the house and would do best in an area that is not heavily populated with dogs. Jobee is in a foster home, but he visits Nevins Farm on Saturdays 12-3pm. If you are interested in learning more or meeting this fun loving boy please stop by on Saturday or give us a call to setup a meet and greet.

Hi there, Im Rayna, an adorable 2-year-old Lab mix looking for my forever home. I may be a bit shy at first, but once Im comfortable, I am a playful and active girl who loves a good game of fetch!
What I Need:
Decompression Time: In the beginning, Ill need a small and predictable environment to help me adjust.
Understanding: My adopters should learn to read my body language and give me space when I need it.
Gentle Handling: I might not be ready for petting right away, so patience is key.
Vet Care: A Fear Free certified vet can help me feel more comfortable during visits.
Possible Dog Friend: I may do well with a confident helper dog: lets meet at the shelter to see how we get along.
Cat Intro: If you have cats, well need a slow and separate introduction.

Introducing Bandit, a sweet and shy dog in search of a loving home. This nervous but lovable pup is looking for patient owners who can provide the care and understanding he needs. Bandit gains confidence when surrounded by confident canine companions, so a home with other dogs may be ideal. While he’s still learning house training, Bandit is eager to please and will thrive with positive reinforcement training. He adores cuddles, playtime, and exploring once he feels safe. To help Bandit blossom into the loyal companion he longs to be, all he needs is a family ready to offer patience, love, and a supportive environment.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in – and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
Molly is a sweet little worrywart looking for a new home to show her the ropes! She came to us from a southern shelter, so we don’t know much about her history. Molly has been through a lot of transitons in a short period of time and can be easily overwhelmed by her environment, so she is looking for a family that can help her settle in and adjust at her own pace. She would likely do well in a home with another social dog who can show her what being brave is all about!
Grant is not just a cute puppy: hes a one-year-old Lab mix with a heart full of potential, waiting for the right family to help him grow into the confident and happy dog he is meant to be. Grants adorable looks will melt your heart the moment you meet him. His puppy charm is irresistible. Grants true joy comes from playing with other dogs. He thrives in the company of his four-legged friends, and they help him gain confidence and navigate the world around him. Grant has had a few transitions in his young life, and he needs time to decompress and adjust to his new surroundings. During this period, his world should be small and predictable, free from the pressure of meeting many new people or dogs. You will need to establish a strong foundation of trust with Grant before introducing new experiences. Grant is easily overwhelmed by changes in his environment. He is had a few stressful transitions, so hell need your patience and understanding as he settles into his new life. Avoid busy places and big gatherings during this period. Grant should be the one to initiate interactions, and always be ready to give him space if hes uncomfortable. Grant might have missed out on proper socialization as a puppy. He can be uncomfortable around new people, places, or things. Its essential to ensure that any socialization experiences are positive and allow Grant to opt out if he feels uncomfortable. Understanding Grants body language is crucial. If he cowers, tucks his tail, or growls, it means he is uncomfortable, and you should respect his boundaries. Grant communicates through his actions, and its our responsibility to listen and give him space when needed. Grant might initially avoid or shy away from touch. Its essential to wait for him to approach and initiate interactions. Practice petting consent, allowing Grant to guide the interaction. Look for signs of discomfort, like freezing or turning his head away, and respect his need for space. Grant is still a puppy at heart and will need typical puppy care. Puppy-proof your home, provide appropriate chew toys, mental and physical stimulation, and maintain a consistent routine. Be prepared for extra supervision and management, given Grants fearfulness. Grant thrives with canine companions. The best chance for his success is to go home with a confident, established helper dog who can guide him and be his playmate. Any potential dog roommates should meet Grant before going home to ensure compatibility. While Grant has not been around cats, he might be okay with a quiet, dog-savvy cat. Careful introductions will be essential to ensure a harmonious living arrangement. Grants suitability with children will depend on their ability to follow instructions, help with training, and read his body language. Grant needs a family that can provide the patience and understanding he requires.
Grant is not just any dog: hes a special soul looking for a loving home that can offer him the time, patience, and understanding he needs to blossom into the confident and happy dog he has the potential to be. Are you ready to be his trusted partner on this incredible journey of trust and love? Adopt Grant today and watch him transform into the wonderful companion you have been waiting for.
Hello, I’m Moe, the adorable 11-month-old Black Lab mix who’s ready to find my forever home. I may be a puppy, but I come with a unique set of characteristics that make me special. Let’s get to know each other better!
Yes, I’m irresistibly cute, and my charming puppy eyes will surely melt your heart. I absolutely love playing with other dogs. In fact, having a dog buddy helps boost my confidence and makes me more comfortable in new situations. I’ve had a bit of a rollercoaster ride in my young life, with multiple transitions and not much consistency. So, during my first few weeks in my new home, it’s important to give me time to decompress and adjust. My world should be small and predictable initially, with limited exposure to new people, dogs, or places. I’m sensitive to changes in my environment and can easily become overwhelmed. I need a patient and understanding adopter who can keep my world controlled and manageable. Please avoid big gatherings or visits to busy places during my settling-in period. It’s essential to let me approach and initiate interactions, and never force me into situations I’m uncomfortable with. I might have missed out on proper socialization as a young pup, which can make me uncomfortable around new people, places, or things. Any socialization experiences I have in the future should be positive and allow me to opt-out if I’m not comfortable. It’s crucial for my adopter to read my body language and respect my boundaries. I may initially avoid or shy away from touch, and it’s important not to force interactions. I might not be ready for petting right away, so adopters should be prepared to wait for me to initiate contact. The concept of petting consent is essential, allowing me to approach and decide the pace of our interactions. Being a puppy means I need the usual puppy-proofing, appropriate toys to chew on, mental and physical stimulation, a consistent routine, and careful supervision in the home. Due to my fearfulness, activities like walks or outdoor potty breaks may need to be delayed until I’m more comfortable and confident.
I thrive in the company of other dogs, so having a confident, mature dog roommate who can tolerate my puppy energy is ideal. We’ll need to meet before we go home together to ensure compatibility. I haven’t been around cats before, but I might be able to live with a quiet, dog-savvy cat after a careful introduction. If there are kids in my new home, they should be old enough to follow instructions, help with training, and understand my body language.
In summary, I’m a loving and playful puppy who needs a patient and understanding adopter willing to help me build confidence and provide a secure, loving environment. If you’re up for the challenge and ready to welcome me into your family, let’s meet and see if we’re a perfect match!
Meet Shadow! He’s a puppy in a big body with a huge heart to go along with it. While he knows how to turn on the charm once he’s comfortable, he can be nervous about new things, then more rowdy once he settles in. He’s got it all, and is looking for an adopter that can appreciate all of his layers! Shadow may be able to live with another dog who is tolerant of a rowdy puppy-type, and he may do well with older children.

Rilee is a happy girl that loves to give kisses to
her favorite people and now that she`s comfortable, she wiggles her way through the halls of the shelter to say hi to everyone she meets. She loves to entertain her friends with her silly antics when she`s playing with toys. This good girl is house and crate trained! Because Rilee has been through many changes in a short time, her adopters should plan on giving her plenty of time with just household members before slowly expanding her world. This time gives her an opportunity to bond with her family, while they learn what makes her comfortable. She has not had much experience meeting new dogs and while she may eventually be able to have a walking buddy, she is not a candidate for daycare or dog parks. Rilee would likely be most comfortable as the only dog in the home and politely declines the company of cats. Any kids in the family must be older and have previous dog experience. To learn about this pretty pittie lady, stop by the shelter during open hours to talk to staff.
Tuesday-Sunday 12-3p
This spunky girl is Mabel! She`s looking for dedicated adopters who are excited about training and helping this girl find an outlet for all her goofy puppy energy. She`s still learning the ropes when it comes to manners, but Mabel is a smart girl who`s ready to work for treats and learn to be the best girl she can be. She would thrive with a family who can give her the time and patience she needs to get settled into a new environment. She has been working on crate training and enjoys daily enrichment here at the shelter, and it would be best to continue these in the home. Any kids in the home should be sturdy and ready for a silly pup who hops around like a bunny! She enjoys a good wrestling match with her dog pals and has a rough, fast-paced playstyle, and we think she`d love a dog sibling or two who wouldn`t mind an annoying younger sister to be a role model to.
Meet Papa! This giant lovebug is such a ham. He would love nothing more than to be by your side whether that means snoozing on the couch, going for a walk, or for a trip in the car. He absolutely loves people and says hi to everyone he meets with exuberance! He is crate trained, housebroken and just an all around great guy. He could live with older, dog experienced kids who are comfortable with his size (he`s almost 90lbs!), and potentially another dog pending an introduction. Papa has some medical needs that will require him to stay on a prescription diet long term so adopters should have a strong relationship with their veterinarian. Papa will also need to have knee surgery, which will be covered by the MSPCA. Papa is currently in foster, but you can visit our website to submit an application or give us a call to chat with staff!
Howie has arrived and he is ready to let the world know…by baying his houndy heart out! Howie is a hound through and through – he’s handsome, super silly, loves to sniff…and he will probably tell you by using his voice that he is having a GREAT time! Howie could potentially live with a dog who is ok with an awkward, loud teenager, and may do well with children old enough to navigate a large, energetic dog!

This happy guy is as smart as he is handsome! He knows sit, down, and speak, and walks nicely on the leash. Georgie seems to enjoy the company of humans more than canine friends, and we think he would do best as the only dog in the home. He loves working on his tricks, playing with toys, and getting pets from his people. Honestly, we think you`d be hard pressed to find a dog with a bigger smile than this guy, when he`s with his humans. Georgie is 7 years old and has had a few transitions in a short period of time, so adopters should plan on giving him plenty of time to settle in with just household members. This will help this good boy bond with his new family while everyone gets acquainted. Any kids in the family should be old enough to respect his needs as he adjusts to his new home. If you are looking for a great walking and cuddling partner, Georgie is your man! He is a volunteer favorite! Come and meet him today! Open hours at our Cape location are Tuesday-Sunday 1-4pm.

Nicky is the sweetest, silliest little pup who is ready to find a home of her own! She came to us from a southern shelter so we don’t know much about her history, but she has been through quite a few transitions in a short time and is looking for a family who can help her explore the world at her own pace! Nicky is still getting used to the sights and sounds of the big city, and could do well with a role model helper dog to show her the ropes, as well as older children who can practice some shy dog skills and help participate in her training!

Meet Bando! His beautiful gray eyes and lil heart nose make him one handsome pup. Bando is no stranger to turning on the charm, either – his favorite thing to do here is to sit next to you and hold your hand while flashing you his best puppy dog eyes (!). We don’t know anything about Bando before he arrived here, so he’ll need some extra time to decompress and get used to his routine when he goes home.
