Description:
At the core of the MSPCA is the belief that families and pets belong together. While our adoption programs work to bring people and pets together, our Community Outreach programs work to keep families and pets together.
We strive to achieve this goal by offering affordable and accessible animal care resources to families who need them, through our own pop-up events as well as providing supplies directly to local food pantries. We are looking for volunteers whose values align with this mission to help pack our weekly food pantry deliveries for the volunteers who pick them up for transport to the site.
Responsibilities
- Per Community Outreach guidelines, pack a variety of pet food and supplies onto carts for pickup
- Ensure food is accurately distributed between carts so food pantry clients are served effectively
- Accurately record amount of food packed for each pantry
- Complete packing in a timely manner, based on pickup schedule
Qualities/Skills:
- Age 18+
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to adapt procedures when needed
- Reliability and punctuality are key for this role!
- Self-directed and comfortable with independent work
Requirements:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and be comfortable doing continuous physical labor. This role will require repeated lifting, pushing, walking and stooping.
- Must have own transportation to Boston MSPCA
- Have an interest and passion for directly addressing inequities in access to pet care resources
- Attendance at an orientation and on-the-job training
Available Shifts:
- Tuesdays 8am-11am
- Commitment of at least 6 months with a recurring shift
