You may recognize this adorable face if you have visited the MSPCA-Angell: Cape Cod in the past year and a half. Minnie arrived at the MSPCA-Angell in April 2021, when the Law Enforcement Department was brought in to collaborate with local law enforcement after Minnie and four other dogs were seized as part of a suspected dog fighting and cruelty investigation.

Unfortunately, Minnie could not be adopted right away because she was considered evidence in the case. She needed to stay in the custody of the MSPCA-Angell until the case was resolved through the courts. Thankfully, the MSPCA-Angell: Cape Cod Adoption Center staff and volunteers were ready for the challenge of keeping Minnie healthy and happy during her 14-month stay.

Minnie didn’t have a lot of experience living a normal dog life, but with a custom training plan and plenty of enrichment games, Minnie began to thrive. Described by the staff as “a little ball of energy who never met a stranger she didn’t fall in love with,” Minnie delighted in new experiences such as walking on a leash or playing with toys. She even enjoyed play dates with other dogs who appreciated her enthusiastic play style. Yet despite her happiness at living in the shelter, we hoped that happier days still lay ahead.

Exactly one year after her arrival, the MSPCA-Angell was officially awarded custody of the dogs in Minnie’s case. Minnie’s search for a new family began in earnest, and her patience was rewarded when she met Cory. “I have had several dogs (one from the MSPCA), and even though I have loved them all, Minnie has taken the cake already,” said Cory. “I am so thankful for finding her and being able to give her a forever home.”

While charges against Minnie’s former owner are still pending, Minnie has moved on to enjoy her new life with Cory, thanks to your generous support.
