Lynsey Legier Joins Animal Protection Team

Lynsey Legier

In November 2021, we welcomed Lynsey Legier to the Animal Protection Division (APD). Lynsey is a former Assistant District Attorney for Massachusetts (Essex County) who specialized in prosecuting animal cruelty cases for more than ten years. As Angell’s new Staff Attorney, Lynsey supports the APD by addressing legal issues with animal cruelty cases involving holding seized or abandoned animals. In addition to assisting with legislative drafting and other advocacy matters, she also guides civil actions to help animals at risk achieve better outcomes. In collaboration with the MSPCA-Angell’s Law Enforcement department, Lynsey is developing relationships with and will offer training to law enforcement, judges, prosecutors, animal control agencies, veterinarians, and animal welfare professionals. Additionally, she is creating resources for municipalities, law enforcement, and other animal- related entities with guidance on various animal law issues, including helping to identify and understand the challenges and best practices for humane law enforcement cases.
