On April 16, the MSPCA Law Enforcement team removed 147 animals from a single property in Franklin County. Most were farm animals, and some were pregnant at the time of removal. By the time all had arrived at the MSPCA-Angell: Nevins Farm in Methuen, the total number of animals had increased to more than 150. Just a few days later, on April 22, the owner surrendered the animals, allowing the Nevins Farm team to focus entirely on helping them heal and preparing them for adoption.
This was no small rescue. Nearly a dozen different species, including cattle and horses, arrived at once. Each animal had unique needs for housing, food, veterinary care, and socialization. Large-scale surrenders like this are rare, and the MSPCA-Angell is one of the only organizations in the region able to handle them. The experienced staff and specialized facilities at Nevins Farm are built for these moments, but the sudden arrival of so many animals put a tremendous strain on resources.
Finding homes for more than 150 animals as quickly as possible was essential, not only to ease the strain on space but to give these animals the fresh start they deserved. In June, the team at Nevins Farm hosted a fee-waived farm animal adoption weekend, and the response from the community was overwhelming! In just two days, every available farm animal from the case was adopted into a new home.
From the first moment of rescue to the last adoption paperwork signed, support from donors like you makes incredible rescues — and large-scale adoption events — like this possible. You gave cattle, horses, goats, pigs, chickens, and other farm animals a second chance at a safe, healthy life. This case is proof that when compassion and action meet, extraordinary things can happen!
