January 2017 Adjudicated Cases

  • Joseph Christakos of Lowell (Dogue de Bordeaux starved and provided no vet care for ongoing illness) pleaded guilty at his trial on 1/9 and was sentenced to 6 months in the house of corrections, suspended for 18 months (through 7/9/18). During that time, Mr. Christakos will be under supervised probation (towards which he must pay $50/month), must pay a $90 victim witness fee, perform 50 hours of community service, and not own any animals.
  • John Maher (abandoned his cat in a Walmart parking lot) was placed under 1 year of pretrial probation.
  • Sisters Maureen Guido and Sheila Black of Upton who were hoarding many cats in their very unsanitary home pleaded to sufficient facts at their pretrial hearing 1/9. The case was CWOF for 2 years.
  • Sam Vanhauer (no vet care for horse with severe laminitis) was CWOF with 1 year of probation at her pretrial hearing 1/13.
