Fee-Waived Adoptathon for Goats

Time: 10am - 3pm   |   Location: MSPCA at Nevins Farm

We’re not kidding!  Join us for our first-ever Fee-Waived Adoptathon for Goats!

Do these warmer, sunny days have you planning to expand your farm animal menagerie this spring? If you were thinking of adding goats to the mix, now is the time! Thanks to generous donors, all adoption fees for goats will be waived on Saturday April 1 and Sunday April 2, from 10am-3pm.

Nevins Farm still has a huge herd of goats in need of loving homes. We even still have some young goats who were born here last spring! These particular goats should remain a closed herd due to some potential disease exposure, meaning they cannot join an existing herd of goats (or other ruminants). But that also makes them great for folks who are newer to farm animals or have just recently gained the capacity to adopt!

Goats are very social animals, so we are aiming to send them home in groups of at least three so they will always have companionship and playmates. We have wethers and does of several different breeds (Nigerian Dwarfs, Alpines, and La Manchas), so no matter what you’re looking for, we likely have a match. You can find all of our adoptable goats here. Please inquire to learn more!

Registration for the event is recommended but not required. Sign up today to secure your spot!

Register for Fee-Waived Goat Adoptathon

After you RSVP:

  • Review our How to Adopt page so you know what to expect.
  • Visit our Pet Search page to see some of the goats available!
  • Bring a photo of the housing where you plan to keep your adopted goats.
  • Same Day Adoptions: We would love to be able to send goats home with adopters during the event.  Please note that we are restricted in same day adoptions for adopters outside of Massachusetts as the goats require an OCVI before travel.  For out of state adopters, we will arrange a later pick-up date if you find a match.
  • Transportation Home: We ask that you bring a trailer if you are hoping to bring goats home during the event.  We do not allow goats to travel in the bed of a truck, even in crates.
  • There is no cost to RSVP for the event. Your RSVP secures you a spot on your selected day, however we cannot guarantee that your preferred animal will be available. We will do our best to help you find the right match!
  • Please be prepared for a wait – we anticipate a lot of interest in the available goats, so there may be a wait period at various points during your visit. Expect to spend from 1-2 hours during your visit

What makes an ideal goat adopter?

  • Has checked with their town that they are zoned/allowed to have goats
  • Currently has/planning to put in fencing and shelter for goats
  • Experience with goats is not necessary, but willingness to learn
  • Recommended to have a large animal vet in mind
  • Ready to take on lively personality filled animals that are sure to bring a smile
