Subaru 2016 Share the Love® Event Generates Nearly $27,000 for Cape Cod Animals

Atlantic Subaru Selects MSPCA-Cape Cod as Hometown Charity, to the Delight of Homeless Animals in its Care

BOSTON, April 14, 2017 – Over the last nine years, Subaru of America, Inc. has donated more than $94 million to national and local charities across the United States through its annual Share the Love event. This year, Atlantic Subaru in Bourne, Mass. selected the MSPCA-Cape Cod in Centerville, MA as its charity of choice.

As one of this year’s hometown charity partners, the MSPCA-Cade Cod today received a donation of $26,774 to protect and bring relief to animals in need in the local community.

During the annual Share the Love event, Subaru donates $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to a host of charitable partners, per the selection of each customer. In addition, each Subaru retailer selects a hometown charity from their community to support, adding more than 660 local causes to the Share the Love campaign.

Subaru’s donation is one of the largest single donations the MSPCA-Cape Cod has ever received from a corporation. The check presentation took place today at Atlantic Subaru, located at 124 Waterhouse Rd, Bourne, Mass.

“Hundreds of homeless animals stream through our doors every year with many requiring expensive veterinary care before we can place them into adoptive homes,” said Mary Sara Fairweather, director of the MSPCA-Cape Cod.  “This incredibly generous Share the Love donation from Subaru of America and Atlantic Subaru ensures these animals will continue to receive the care they need and we are so grateful for Subaru’s support of our work.”

Fairweather stressed that while the current adoption center is due to be replaced in the coming year with a new facility, the Share the Love donation is exclusively earmarked for ongoing animal care.  “Every dollar from Subaru will go directly toward the care of animals in need,” she said.

“Subaru is proud to partner with MSPCA-Cape Cod as part of the ninth annual Share the Love event,” said Gegam Sarkisian, general manager at Atlantic Subaru. “We are thrilled that this donation will help improve the health and well-being of animals in our local community.”
