Goldendoodle Recovers After Hit By Car
Teddy came for a visit this past Wednesday (5/3) for a bandage change, a close examination under sedation showed no abnormalities. The wound on his left leg is almost completely healed and the right fracture is feeling more stable.
Teddy and his new family will be coming in weekly for splint and bandage changes and in a few weeks Teddy will have radiographs to determine how the fracture has healed and if amputation is needed.
The adopters are really wonderful and very happy with Teddy!

This sweet 3 year old goldendoodle, aptly named Teddy, needs our help after being hit by a car. Teddy’s front right leg is fractured, and he has a deep wound on his front left leg. His injuries will take several weeks, if not months, to heal.
Teddy’s case is complex. Right now, his leg is in a splint, but it’s not yet clear if it will heal properly. It’s possible that the leg may need to be amputated, but it’s too early to tell at this point. Of course we will do all that we can to save the leg – we’re changing his splint and bandages weekly and reassessing. We’ll take more x-rays in a few weeks that will help us determine the best course of action. The cost of caring for Teddy could top $10,000, depending on how his recovery goes. Please donate so we can make sure to give Teddy the best possible care, and help other animals like him who need us every day.
Even with this scary and painful experience, Teddy’s spirit has not dampened. He moves around well, and he’s an incredibly sweet boy. We know there will be many people who are interested in adopting Teddy, so we will be sure to update you all when we are ready to start planning his next steps!
