More about Gerald:
Everyone here at the shelter is in love with my big cheeks … they call me the big cheeky guy! I am social and outgoing, and it might be great if my adopter already has a social cat waiting for me!
Now for the serious stuff: I guard my food, and I’ll growl while eating. It’s recommended that my adopter have a plan for feeding time. And there needs to be feeding times because I am a foodie guy, prone to over-eating, so I cannot be free-fed. I have low tolerance for close handling. Staff recommends I visit a fear-free vet as needed, and I may even require some level of sedation for vet exams … an easy method to keep me calm. I can get overstimulated, so I’ll do best in a cat-savvy home with an adopter who understands cat body language and won’t push me.
Are you ready to adopt? Are you cat-savvy and willing to work with me so I don’t feel pushed beyond my limit? If you’re ready to bring home a big cheeky guy, give staff a call and let them know you are the right person to take me home with you and give me a loving forever home!
Cats: Maybe another social cat
Dogs: Maybe, no history
Kids: Older, cat-savvy
