Meet Dakota! This pint-sized little peanut is ready to snuggle his way right to your heart! Since arrival at the MSPCA Dakota has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite. Never having formal training, the team at Nevins has begun to work with him. He is currently walk, trot, and canter in tack on the lunge, and boy is he a cute mover! Recently we have started putting a rider up in the saddle, and Dakota is taking it in stride. At his size he will require a petite rider and someone who has experience with restarting or will do so under a trainer’s supervision. Given his current training level, he is not ready to be a children’s pony yet.

Dakota gelded in April and may still exhibit some stud-like behaviors for awhile. He has begun turning out with another gelding, and is enjoying the companionship. Dakota likes to be in charge of the herd, but does so very appropriately. He is turn out across from a mare, but is not ready to share a paddock at this time. Dakota is up to date on all vet and farrier care and does very well for both.
