Why we offer this program
Nearly 25% of the dogs entering our adoption centers are Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls also tend to stay the longest at our adoption centers waiting for a place to call home. At the MSPCA, we are committed to helping Pit Bulls through programs specifically designed to create positive change for these misrepresented dogs. The Pit Pals Program helps us assist those community members who want to neuter their Pit Bull but have no financial resources to do so, ultimately reducing the overpopulation of Pit Bulls.
Why are certain communities offered free services?
Of the many towns the MSPCA serves, the highest number of Pit Bulls surrendered to our adoption centers are from these communities. Our plan is to strategically reach Pit Bull owners whose dogs are most likely to have litters that end up homeless. And our statistics tell us to start in these zip code.
Please note
The Pit Pals Program is only available at the Shalit-Glazer Spay/Neuter Clinic in Jamaica Plain, the Noble Family Adoption Center in Methuen Massachusetts, and through the MSPCA Cape Cod Adoption Center in Centerville. It is not part of the statewide MSPCA/MVMA Spay/Neuter Assistance Program.
