Urgent Care in Waltham

In addition to our Emergency and Critical Care service at our Waltham location, we are pleased to offer an Urgent Care service for dogs and cats at our MSPCA-Angell West location in Waltham. Same-day Urgent Care appointments are available six days/week (Sunday-Friday).

Our team can help clients discern if their animal’s condition is an Urgent Care or Emergency case. Urgent care for exotic animals is also available through our Avian and Exotic service in Waltham.

Afternoon and evening appointments for dogs and cats are available Sunday through Friday, 8am-6pm by calling 781-902-8400. Urgent care appointments for exotic animals can be made by calling 617-989-1561.

Urgent Care Services:

  • Treatment of non-life-threatening, urgent injuries or illnesses
  • Bloodwork – some results available during visit
  • Point of Care Ultrasound
  • X-rays
  • In-house transfer to Emergency service if needed
  • Bordetella/ Kennel cough vaccination
    (If time sensitive before boarding and primary care veterinarian is unavailable)
  • End-of-life care / euthanasia

 

Treatment for:

  • Abscesses
  • Allergies (nasal/eye discharge, sneezing)
  • Anal gland issues – scooting, licking
  • Back pain without trouble walking (arching back, flinching, reluctant to use stairs, etc.)
  • Constipation
  • Coughing/sneezing
  • Decreased appetite (with normal energy level)
  • Diarrhea (2-3 days or less. Bring stool sample)
  • Ear infections/ear mites
  • Eye squinting, eye discharge
  • Fleas
  • Lethargy (with no other health concerns/eating drinking ok)
  • Limping
  • Lump/bump evaluation
  • Minor wounds: bite, puncture, lacerations
    (Go to Emergency service for severe wounds or if over ribcage or soft part of abdomen)
  • Pacing, panting, crying, won’t settle
    (with no other health concerns; eating/drinking ok)
  • Parasites/worms
  • Rashes and skin infections
  • Signs of pain
  • Skin allergies/infection/scratching/lesions
  • Swelling of face or limbs
  • Tick removal/tick disease
  • Torn toenails or ingrown nails
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vomiting (with normal energy level, 1-2 days or less)
