MSPCA-Angell and Clear the Shelters Help Save 150 Cats

August 1 marked the official kick-off to NBC Universal’s Clear the Shelters campaign — an annual, nationwide publicity campaign aimed at getting as many pets out of shelters and into homes as possible — and the MSPCA-Angell took full advantage of it this year!

Staff secured a handful of pre-campaign segments that aired on regional NBC affiliate stations that highlighted pet adoption trends, why some dogs (think: large ones!) stay in shelters longer, and how the MSPCA-Angell Community Outreach team is doing everything possible to keep pets in their homes with their families, despite the mounting toll of inflation that has many pet owners feeling strapped.

The MSPCA-Angell also arranged a transport of some 150 cats from the South who landed in Massachusetts at the start of Clear the Shelters — and NBC covered news of their arrival exclusively.

As of this writing, the cats are getting settled into their new (temporary) homes in the MSPCA-Angell adoption centers. Soon they’ll undergo their routine health checks and spay and neuter surgeries before being placed into loving adoptive homes.
