The MSPCA at Nevins Farm, in Methuen, Massachusetts, is a unique 55-acre animal care complex that provides shelter and adoption services for both farm and companion animals; an exceptional equine program, including rehabilitation, adoption services, and a world-renowned equine ambulance program; community outreach and education, including a popular summer camp for children; resources for pet owners who have lost a companion animal, including a crematory and cemetery; and humane law enforcement services that uphold animal protection laws and provide care to animal victims of abuse and neglect. Horses Helping Horses Spring Trail Ride

Sunday June 9 at Great Brook Farm in Carlisle, MA
Save the date for our 5th annual Spring Trail Ride! Bring your horse, or “hoof it” on your own two feet for an eight mile ride through the trails of Great Brook Farm. Meet some of the adoptable horses at the MSPCA, and many of our 'equine alum'!
Registration is just $30, and will include a delicious pasta lunch. Raise pledges too, and you could win one of many prizes for our Top Fundraisers! Raise $100, and you'll receive a limited edition Horses Helping Horses Spring Trail Ride t-shirt!

Hair of the Dog Wine Tasting & Art Show a Success!
Over $13,000 raised!
Thanks to all who turned out for our 9th annual Hair of the Dog Wine Tasting & Art Show last Friday, helping us to raise over $13,000 for the care of homeless animals at Nevins Farm. The evening was chock full of great wines & beers, fabulous artwork, and delicious food. Special thanks to our event sponsors at Shawsheen Village Liquors, Essex Art Center, and Whole Foods Market in Andover. Please visit them soon, and thank them for their support of animals.
If you missed the opportunity to order some of your favorite wines, you can still place an order at Shawsheen Village Liquors, and 10% of your order will be donated to the MSPCA. Choose any of the six Chateau Julien wines featured at Hair of the Dog, and an additional $1 per bottle sold will be donated to the MSPCA by the winery!

It's a Kitten Shower!

THE KITTENS ARE COMING...
And to prepare, we're holding a kitten shower to help raise money for our Foster Program. The money raised will help us purchase vital supplies to care for these kittens who often need foster care until they're old enough for adoption. We'll be celebrating in the lobby of the Noble Family Adoption Center Thursday May 16 through Saturday May 25 during regular hours. Nevins Dog Prom!
Voting Throughout May, and Crowning on May 25 at 3pm
The MSPCA at Nevins Farm is proud to announce our 2nd annual Dog Prom for adoptable dogs! Join us throughout the month of May and cast your vote for your favorite Dog Prom King and Queen! Winners will be selected on Saturday May 25 at 3pm, and all are cordially invited to attend the Crowning (human guests only, please). Refreshments are available at our Dog Prom Bake Sale (all proceeds will benefit the dogs and other animals at the MSPCA). Bring your party shoes and be ready to dance to the music!

Equine Safety & Ambulance Training Workshop for First Responders
A two-day course, Saturday June 1 & Sunday June 2 from 9am-4pm
Do you know what to do in an equine emergency? Are you prepared with equipment, know who to call, what to do? Whether you are a public safety official, a first responder, a veterinary professional, or a barn owner, this course is essential to prepare you for an equine emergency. Offered as a one day course for equine professionals or a two day course for first responders, veterinarians, and veterinary technicians, you’ll learn how to move large animals safely and quickly in cases of disaster or injury, while preventing potential injuries to the humans involved. The course offers classroom instruction and hands-on scenarios using our specialized equipment and equipment that may be readily available to first responder departments.

‘Learn to Long Line’ Clinic with Claudia Lauze
Saturday June 29 from 9am-4pm
Effective Ground Work is key to any training program for both green and seasoned horses, and Long Lining has been described as the most productive of all ground work. Learn proper long lining techniques or enhance your current methods by attending this clinic led by Claudia Lauze, a licensed instructor/trainer who has spent a lifetime working with and training horses of every type and ability across multiple disciplines. Six sessions are available with horses, and there are unlimited auditor spots.
