About Us
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – Angell Animal Medical Center (MSPCA-Angell)
Since 1868, the MSPCA-Angell has been at the forefront of animal protection and veterinary care, providing hands-on care for thousands of animals each year. Today, the MSPCA-Angell is a world leader in animal welfare; healing, rescuing, sheltering, protecting, and advocating for more animals than any other humane organization in the United States.
The MSPCA-Angell is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that does not receive any funding from state/federal agencies and is not operated by any fellow SPCAs. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our supporters, and the thousands of animals they help each year.

Delivering vital resources | Keeping families and pets together
At the core of the MSPCA-Angell is the belief that families and pets belong together. While our adoption programs work to bring people and animals together, our Community Outreach program works to keep families and pets together by offering affordable and accessible animal care resources such as pet meals and vaccinations to families who need them.

Transporting animals in need
Many shelters outside Massachusetts are overcrowded and need help. By leveraging our relocation, transport, and adoption expertise we provide that help for thousands of animals in need. We also address local overpopulation through mentorships with our relocation partners. Within Massachusetts, we led the formation of the Massachusetts Animal Shelter Support (MASS) coalition, bringing together six animal welfare groups across Massachusetts to increase adoptions, reduce euthanasia and improve the health and wellbeing of shelter animals across Massachusetts.

Improving animal protection laws
The MSPCA-Angell drives lasting change for animals through legislative and public policy advocacy. Our team works locally, on the state level, and nationally to strengthen animal protection laws, supported by Animal Action Team members, and Community Advocacy Leaders, who write letters, make calls, and lobby at the Massachusetts State House.

Protecting animals from cruelty
Our fully-commissioned law enforcement officers work to improve animal welfare by investigating complaints, issuing warnings, conducting follow-ups, and providing education. Partnering with our Community Outreach team, they proactively address issues before they escalate.

The MSPCA-Angell strives to inspire better animal care and treatment by empowering individuals with knowledge. We educate the public on animal welfare, health, and behavior through workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions tailored to diverse age groups and interests.
