Meet Jack! This shy boy is looking for a cat savvy hero who can give him a low-stress, low traffic home. He’s not really a people person, and tends to hide when strangers are around. He is sweet and affectionate with his friends, but he’s pretty discerning, so don’t be offended if it takes a long time for him to include you in his friend circle. Are you the patient and understanding person he needs?

Meet Fluffy! This big affectionate and curious guy loves nothing more than getting rubs, having his cheeks brushed, and giving headbutts. While he seems to be more comfortable with people that he knows, he’s a big teddy bear that adores the company of his people. He is curious by nature- and as nosey as they come. He would love to have a window spot to call his own where he can watch the world go by and satisfy his curiosity. If your looking for a big loveable cat to rub up on your legs after a long day, Fluffy is your guy!
My previous owner found me as a stray around a year ago hanging around the outside of her house. She states that I was slightly fearful and hid the first few days, but I very quickly warmed up to her.
My nickname is `purro` because I like to purr a lot, and when I am called that, I will roll over for belly rubs! I do well around teenagers, and when visitors arrive I may hide for a few minutes, but then come out to say hi. I have good litter box manners!
I used to cuddle with the other cat in my home, and I liked to follow my previous owner around the house to just hang out together. I have lived with dogs, and enjoyed spending time with them.

Baby and Lovey are a duo of sweet senior ladies looking for a calm and cozy home to enjoy their golden years. These two may be a little shy at first, but once they warm up, they will reward you with the gentlest purrs and the sweetest companionship.
While they would love to stay together, they understand that the right home isn’t always a two-for-one deal—so they’re open to the idea of finding a new home separately if needed. Either way, they’re looking for a quiet, peaceful home where they can curl up in sunny spots, enjoy leisurely afternoon naps, and share their love at their own pace.
If you have a soft spot for senior kitties and a heart big enough for one (or two!) sweet souls, Baby and Lovey would love to meet you! This is Greg and they are very outgoing and social. Greg likes to play and get attention from their people in equal measures. But don’t let their cuddly ways fool you, because Greg gets over excited very easily and likes to grab hands and use their mouth when playing. Greg has a history of living with and playing with a canine companion, so he may be a nice fit for someone who has a cat-friendly pup! Greg is curious and he seems happiest when they’ve got something to do!

Not much is known about me other than I came into the shelter environment as an injured stray. I have been treated and quarantined, and staff is working on obtaining information about me from another location. I am very high-arousal, and will need a cat-savvy adopter who can read cat-body language and know when to leave me alone before i become over-aroused.

Ever wanted to live with a tiny house panther who might secretly be a celebrity in witness protection? Meet Oreo. He’s got the looks, the attitude, and the dramatic flair of a superstar.
Oreo enjoys the finer things in life—high perches, quality playtime, and humans who understand that “too much petting” is a real thing. He’s a cat who will demand attention and then immediately act like he doesn’t know you. Classic…
He’s not interested in living with other cats, and he’ll need humans who respect his personal boundaries. He can get a little overexcited when playing, so wand toys are a must (for safety).
If you’re looking for a cat who’s equal parts handsome, hilarious, and just the right amount of chaos, Oreo might be the perfect house panther to fill that spot in your home.

I was trapped by a gentleman who had been feeding me, and I made my way here to the shelter to find my home. It will take time for me to show my personality. I could be considered a spirit cat, or a working cat.
I will need a VERY patient cat-savvy adopter who can read my body language and give me time to blossom into my true personality. It would be best to start in a small room or large crate and gradually be given more access to the house as I start to get comfortable. This will allow for protected contact, along with providing a safe space for me. Expectations should be managed that it is unknown how long it will take for me to adapt (possible weeks to months) and I might never become super social but be more of a roommate. I would be ideal for a gentle, quiet adopter looking to help out a cat but one that has low expectations for who that cat is and what he might become. Staff does not have any idea on what I will be like in a home environment.
It is recommended that I start in my own space, ideally a spare bathroom or small bedroom. I should have a secure hiding space that is easily accessed by my adopter (a covered large dog crate is a fantastic option), with options to climb vertically, and easy access to food, water, and a large litter box. I should not be pet or picked up when I am hiding or showing fearful body language like curling up into a tight, tense ball, flattening their ears backward or to the sides, hissing, growling, swatting, etc. Ideally, with enough time to myself, I will begin to relax and move around more freely while when my adopter visits my room. Once I am consistently moving around comfortably, with relaxed body language, I will be ready to start exploring other parts of the house.
I will be in a completely new environment where I do not know anybody, it will smell different and there will be new noises and new routines to get used to. My set up should include a litter box, water, food, toys and some blankets that smell like me. ALWAYS let me come to you for attention. Until we have a better understanding of each other and can better predict or read behavior, my adopter should always wait until I ask to be pet. A way to make a peace offering is to hold out your hand to let me sniff you. Just not too close to my face!
Wait at least a month (time is dependent on each cat) before letting me go outside, so that I have plenty of time to feel well established in my new home. I am more likely to return to your home if I feel I am the safest there. I should be started on a routine right away so that I associate the time of day (building an internal clock), using a marker (like a can-tap, his name, or a bell) to mark the time I am about to get fed so that I start associating the sound of that marker with dinner time.
Compatibility:
Dogs: Possibly – no history, perhaps a mellow, cat-savvy dog
Cats: YES! It would be best to go to a home with a confident feline friend that he can bond with and help to show him the ropes. Is most likely going to be a `cat`s cat` vs a `people`s cat`
Kids: Older – quiet, cat-savvy
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30 pm with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
