This handsome 8 year old boy is Roary, a shy guy on the hunt for his new home! Roary doesn’t have a lot of practice with meeting new people, and has been pretty worried at the shelter. He would love to go home with another cat with a slow introduction! Adopters should plan to give him plenty of time and patient love to help him adjust to his new home at his own pace.

Molly is a sweet, independent cat with a touch of personality! She’s looking for an adopter who can offer her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable in her new home. She thrives in a calm, low-traffic environment and will benefit from an adopter who’s ready to patiently observe her behavior and body language, getting to know her preferences.
Molly is social on her own terms—she’ll reach out when she’s ready for some companionship but will let you know when she needs her space. Once she has settled, you’ll see her sweet side. With time, she’ll feel more comfortable and show her affection in her own unique way.
This thoughtful, observant approach will help her settle in at her own pace, and with the right care, Molly will blossom into a loving companion. If you’re ready for a quiet, rewarding journey with a cat who will appreciate your patience, Molly might be the perfect fit for you.
Leo is looking for a home that will give him time to get to know his new family. Leo’s ideal home would be quiet, with cat savvy humans who can offer patience and understanding while he adjusts to his new surroundings as he likes to do it. He can be fearful when approached in a new space and needs his humans to know how to handle this. Once he is comfortable, he can be quite talkative and will seek you out for some head scratches. At the shelter, he has been living in one of our staff offices and has become quite social and affectionate now that he has learned to trust us. If you are coming to the shelter to meet him, please let us know when you are here so we can introduce you!
I am very sweet, with the potential to be an easy-going, gentle cat once I warm up to my people. I will need a VERY patient, cat-savvy adopter who can read cat-body language and give me time to blossom into my true personality.
I came from an overcrowded home with lots of other cats. It will be best to start me in a spare bedroom or bathroom at first, with options to climb vertically such as a cat tree, and easy access to food, water, bed and a large litter box. Ideally with enough time to myself, I will begin to relax and move around more freely while my adopter in visiting my room. Once I am consistently moving around comfortably with relaxed body language, I am ready to start exploring other parts of my new home. Expectations should be set that it is unknown how long it will take for me to adapt (possibly weeks or months) and I might never become super social, but more of a roommate. I would be ideal for a gentle, quiet adopter looking to help out a cat, but one that has low expectations for who I am and what I might become.
It is recommended that I have a cat friend in my new home, or be adopted with another cat so we can become more confident together, as I was used to having a friend in my previous environment.
Compatibility:
Dogs: Possibly – no history – mellow and cat-savvy
Cats: YES! Ideally I should be adopted into a home with a confident feline friend that I can bond with and who can help show me the ropes. I am most likely going to be a `cat`s cat versus a `people`s cat`.
Kids: Possibly – no history – older and cat-savvy
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30 pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Momoa is a 3 year old cat who recently came to us on a transport. Momoa has a regressive case of FeLV – or Feline Leukemia Virus – which means that the virus is present, but controlled by the immune system and so not currently developing any symptoms.
For cats that have regressive FeLV, regular appointments with a vet will be important so as to monitor his infection status. Despite his diagnosis, he can be social and affectionate with those he knows, once he is comfortable in his new space. Momoa does find transitions and new environments quite stressful, so he is looking for a patient home that will give her all the time and space she needs to settle in. Momoa would need to be the only cat in the household, or have feline friends that also have FeLV.

Looking for a cat who won’t demand constant attention? Whiskers has you covered. He enjoys quiet spaces, personal boundaries, and being admired from a respectful distance. Once he settles in, he may surprise you by becoming your low-key best friend. Until then, he’ll be busy perfecting the art of avoiding awkward small talk.

More About Us:
Hi there, we’re Charlie and Dee! We are two very cute siblings that need to go home together! We came here because our previous owner had too many cats and was unable to care for us. At first we might be a little cautious, but once we get to know you we become very affectionate. We both have very loud purrs. Our favorite toys are string and ball toys. We are both very nervous kittens who need to go home with a young, social cat! Could it be yours?
**We are already spayed and neutered, so we can come home with you today!**
Buy all of your pet supplies here! All of the proceeds go to help the animals and programs at the Boston MSPCA.

We receive a large number of inquiries daily and we do our best to respond to each inquiry as soon as possible! In the meantime, please feel free to stop by the adoption center to meet our animals during our open hours of Tuesday-Friday 1pm-5pm or weekends 12pm-4pm. You do not need an appointment. This cat is part of our Working Cat Program! This program is for cats that are not well suited for an indoor-only type lifestyle but would thrive in environments with more space, a job, and/or less pressure from humans and other pets.
This cat originally came to us from the outdoors so we don’t know a lot about his past. While they are used to people being in somewhat close proximity to feed and care for them, these are not currently social cats but would make great ‘behind the scenes’ working cats! Interested adopters must have a safe, secure structure or barn for a working cat and be able to provide adequate time for acclimation.
If you are interested, please give us a call today!
If you would like to learn more about the Working Cat Program, or would like to fill out an application, please visit: www.mspca.org/barncat
I am a social guy, chatty and playful. I love attention, and I enjoyed living with a dog in the past.
I get overstimulated easily, so I need an adopter who will read my body language and give me space: I have a history of biting when I get wound up. I will need to be indoor/outdoor once I get settled. I am very energetic and having a safe outdoor option is an outlet for my energy. If I am kept indoor only, I will frequently try to escape and potentially become frustrated if not given the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
My adopter should be ready to provide lots of play time I enjoy toys I can chase, and I enjoy interactive play time with my people.
COMPATIBILITY:
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Potentially, he seems to like them, but also has been bullied by neighborhood cats, and began spraying when one accidentally got into their home
KIDS: Yes, has lived with one calm child in the past they wouldn eed to be respectful of Timothy Hoppers space.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday fro noon – 4:30 pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
I am a lovely ten-year old calico lady, I love my people, and I am great for vet care and handling.
I have been diagnosed with diabetes. It can be successfully managed with prescription diet, medications (insulin injections under the skin), and close-monitoring, but can have serious and life threatening complications if left untreated or inappropriately monitored. Owning a diabetic animal requires a close relationship with a veterinarian and additional testing and treatments may be recommended beyond what was performed here in the shelter. I have been started on a prescription diet as well as twice daily insulin injections. These should be continued as prescribed until a relationship with a veterinarian is established. We recommend finding a veterinarian as soon as possible after adoption to discuss ongoing management of this condition, as achieving control of diabetes can be especially challenging in the shelter environment due to stress, diet changes, and appetite changes.
Tooth resorption is a painful condition that causes teeth to be destroyed by the body. Extraction of affected teeth is recommended, and the teeth affected by this condition were removed during a dental procedure at the shelter. However, cats who have tooth resorption will often have additional teeth affected in the future. We recommend establishing care with a primary care veterinarian to monitor dental health.
I would benefit from dental cleaning, which will likely include tooth extractions of the more severely affected teeth. Sedated oral exam or dental radiographs are needed to determine if extractions are indicated at this time. Follow up with a primary care veterinarian is recommended for ongoing dental health recommendations.
NOTE: This dental procedure may have been performed in the shelter prior to adoption. Ask staff to check my medical records to confirm.
I should start off in my new home in my own room, a small bedroom or larger bathroom or walk-in closet, but would ideally be a space where I can comfortably decompress after my transition out of the original home and shelter stay. My adopters should be comfortable with keeping me in this space for as long as it takes for me to be displaying calm confident, affiliative body language. Adopters should plan for no less than two weeks, but could take longer for me to settle in.
Once I am ready to move beyond the initial confinement space, my adopters should be prepared to give slow/incremental access to the rest of the home. This may involve small outings into the rest of the house with most doors closed, or simply allowing for access to one additional room at a time over the course of a few weeks (or longer).
COMPATIBILITY:
DOGS: Potentially, no history
CATS: Yes, Ella previously lived with another cat
KIDS: Yes, Ella previously lived with children

Despite the uncanny resemblance, this isn’t a horned owl… it’s Minoes! Minoes is an 11 year old cat who recently came to our shelter and is ready for her new home. She’s a quiet girl who would love a calm and comfortable home to relax in. Once she’s your friend, you can anticipate cuddles and staying close to you! She would do best in a home without other cats.

I am a handsome guy, shy at first, and friendly with my people.
It is recommended that my adopters give me a very slow introduction to my new home. To succeed, I should start off in a small space (an unused extra bedroom or bathroom) and only given more space when I am confidently moving around my environment and interacting with
my adopter. I should be left alone initially as I adjust. My space should include plenty of hiding places, ideally with access to a vertical surface such as a cat tree or a cat-proofed shelf, and
easy access to a litter box, food, bed, and water. Once I am confidently moving about my small environment and comfortable interacting with my adopter, I can be introduced to the rest of my new home.
I have the potential to be a sweet, gentle companion with a very cat-savvy adopter who is willing to put in the extra effort to help me come out of my shell. I would be ideal for a gentle, quiet adopter looking to help out a cat but one that has low expectations for who that cat is and what it might become. A `let them be who they are` type of person.
Spirit cats like me do best having a companion at home! I came to the shelter with another cat named Sweet. While we do not need to go home together, with my shy personality I would
most likely do best in a home with another cat.
Compatibility:
CATS: YES PLEASE! Highly recommended to go to a home with a social cat that can be their role model and show them the ropes.
DOGS: Possibly – no history
KIDS Older, quiet, cat-savvy
