Temporary Housing for Pets

The following resources may help if you have found a spot to live with your pet but need a bit of time before you are able to move in or need to find a temporary housing situation for you and your pet. Note that most programs will have limits on the amount of time a pet can be cared for and possibly other conditions.

• Animal Rescue League’s Temporary Housing Initiative
• MSPCA-Angell’s SafePet program – This program provides temporary assistance for families in crisis, including individuals fleeing domestic violence. Please call us at  617-522-7400
• Boston-based Pet Fostering-to-Return Facebook page (there may be similar groups in your community)
• Project Keep Me (Second Chance Animal Services): temporary boarding for pets of survivors of domestic violence and veterans who are seeking in-patient treatment.
• NH SPCA Safe Pet Program (NH residents only) This program provides temporary assistance for families in crisis, including individuals fleeing domestic violence.

• Reach out to animal shelters in your community to see if they offer any type of temporary boarding
• Contact local boarding kennels and see if they have availability and will work with you to help
