Synovetin OA® is an innovative, long-lasting treatment for canine osteoarthritis (OA) pain and inflammation. MSPCA-Angell veterinarians perform this advanced form of nuclear medicine, which involves a single injection into the affected joint. Your dog can go home the same day without restrictions on activity or the need for rehabilitation. This minimally-invasive treatment can reduce the need for daily medications and since the active ingredient works solely within the joint, and is not absorbed into the body, it can be a good adjuvant option for dogs currently being treated with other modalities for arthritis.
The procedure, offered through our Surgery service, uses microscopic particles of a therapeutic radioactive material to target and deactivate cells that cause pain, inflammation, and cartilage damage within the joint itself. While the particles remain active for a short period, the relief can last up to a year or longer.
Your contribution - no matter the amount - helps us provide the best possible care and services for homeless, injured, sick, and abused animals.
If you have some time to give and you want to help animals – we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
