Synovetin OA

Synovetin OA® is an innovative, long-lasting treatment for canine osteoarthritis (OA) pain and inflammation. MSPCA-Angell veterinarians perform this advanced form of nuclear medicine, which involves a single injection into the affected joint. Your dog can go home the same day without restrictions on activity or the need for rehabilitation. This non-surgical treatment can reduce the need for daily medications and since the active ingredient works solely within the joint, and is not absorbed into the body, can be a good adjuvant options for dogs currently being treatment with other modalities for arthritis.

The procedure uses microscopic particles of a therapeutic radioactive material to target and deactivate cells that cause pain, inflammation, and cartilage damage within the joint itself. While the particles remain active for a short period, the relief can last up to a year or longer.
