MSPCA Cape Cod Shelter Care Volunteer

Description:

Shelter care volunteers work to keep the shelter environment remains safe, clean and as comfortable as possible for animals, staff, and volunteers. We can’t have happy and healthy animals without clean dishes and laundry! This incredibly important role directly impacts the wellbeing of the animals in our care.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort and organize donations
  • Wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry
  • Wash and put away dishes, litter boxes, and other items
  • Clean and disinfect shelter areas
  • Empty trash and recyclables throughout the building
  • Restock animal food and supplies

Qualities/Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and with other volunteers
  • Ability to follow direction & prioritize tasks
  • Ability to quickly make good judgements for the safety of the individual, staff, other volunteers and animals
  • Ability to perform physical labor for the durance of the shift and lift and/or pull up to 50lbs

Requirements:

  • A commitment of at least six months
  • A weekly 2-3-hour shift on a set day and time or a minimum of four hours per month
  • Attendance at an orientation and on-the-job training

Available Shifts:

Shifts fall between the hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm. The current available shifts are listed below:

  • 8:30AM – 10:30AM
    • Monday, Saturday
  • 11AM – 1PM
    • Tuesday, Saturday
  • 2:30PM – 4:30PM
    • Monday, Wednesday, Friday
