Description:
Shelter care volunteers assist staff in ensuring the shelter environment remains safe, clean and as comfortable as possible for animals, staff, and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Sort and organize donations
- Wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry
- Wash and put away dishes, litterboxes, and other items
- Clean and disinfect shelter areas
- Empty trash and recyclables throughout the building
- Restock animal food and supplies
Qualities/Skills:
- Ability to work independently and with other volunteers
- Ability to follow direction & prioritize tasks
- Ability to quickly make good judgements for the safety of the individual, staff, other volunteers and animals
- Ability to perform physical labor for the durance of the shift and lift and/or pull up to 50lbs
Requirements:
- A commitment of at least six months
- A weekly 2-3-hour shift on a set day and time or a minimum of four hours per month
- Attendance at an orientation and on-the-job training
Available Shifts:
Shifts fall between the hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm.
