Clinic Housekeeping Helper

Volunteers in this role will help complete closing tasks in our busy surgery clinic, ensuring the clinic is left tidy and ready for the next day. This role involves cleaning, sterilization, restocking, and a variety of other essential tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Sterilize endotracheal tubes and surgical instruments
  • Wash, dry and fold laundry and surgical towels and drapes
  • Use an autoclave to sterilize instruments, towels and drapes
  • Clean and sterilize kennels to ready them for the next patient
  • Restock syringes and miscellaneous other items for the next day’s procedures
  • Other tasks as assigned

Necessary Skills:

  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and take initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow directions and receive feedback
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of this role, which include variable amounts of standing, walking, bending, reaching and stooping among other actions
  • Able to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • This role requires frequent verbal and written communication and as such, applicants should be highly proficient in English and have excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in using a computer without assistance and learning new programs. All volunteers digitally log hours and use an online scheduling function.

Requirements:

  • A minimum commitment of six months
  • A weekly shift on a set day and time
  • Attendance at orientation and on-the-job training
  • Applicants must be 18 or older

Available Shifts:

  • 2pm-5pm: Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays
  • Volunteers commit to one shift weekly
  • We are unable to accommodate requests for alterations to the schedule. Please ensure you will be available for the full duration of a shift before applying.
