Meet Tessa! Tessa has been in a foster home for several weeks, and frankly… no notes. She’s apt to go with the flow. Couch time? She’s in. You’re in meetings? She can take a hint and go do her own thing. She’s gotta go potty? She’ll wait til you’re ready to go outside. Tessa settled into a home routine like no other – name another shelter dog who hasn’t even needed a crate.

Every now and then she’ll slip up and show a crack in her perfect exterior by barking at a rabbit, squirrel, or another dog. But to be honest, if she didn’t, we’d be worried that she isn’t even real. What kind of dog DOESN’T know that squirrels are monsters disguised in small furry bodies? Fake dogs, that’s who. Tessa would prefer a quiet neighborhood, where she won’t see many other dogs on walks. Tessa would prefer to be the only dog in the home.

If you’re looking for a pup who is just a flat out good companion, but who will keep you on your toes JUST enough to remind you that you’re taking care of a living being, come meet Tessa. She’ll bring endless joy to your life!

Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Tessa. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

NEW! Extended evening hours for dog adoptions only until 7PM on Wednesdays on the Cape, and on Thursdays in Boston, Methuen, and Salem.

Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
