20 Dogs from Storm-Ravaged Kentucky Arrive in Massachusetts

MSPCA-Angell and Northeast Animal Shelter Hope to Place Four-Legged Evacuees into New Homes by the Holidays

No sooner did 100 cats from Kentucky arrive at the shelter doors of the MSPCA-Angell and the Northeast Animal Shelter (NEAS) have the two organizations again combined forces to relocate 20 dogs who had been living at the Kentucky Humane Society to Massachusetts, where all are expected to find homes quickly. A team of staffers driving two cargo vans is expected to arrive at NEAS this evening, after which the dogs will be carefully loaded into the shelter to begin serving their mandatory 48-hour quarantine.

The dogs—who range in age from 13 weeks to three years old—are a mixture of Terriers, Beagles, Cattle Dogs, Labs, Boxers and others. Given how quickly the recently relocated cats have been adopted, just days after they were first transported from Kentucky, MSPCA and NEAS officials expect the dogs to find new homes as well.
