Congress, located in Washington, D.C., passes laws that apply to the entire country. Each Congress is two years and includes two legislative sessions, one per year. The 119th Congress is in the first of its two legislative sessions, which began on January 3, 2025 and will end on January 3, 2026. Every citizen is represented by two U.S. Senators — in Massachusetts, these are Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren — and one U.S. Representative.
