Avian and Exotic Technician
Billie lives in Plymouth, MA, with her two little poodles (Odie and Minnie) and two cats (Trey, a fluffy white boy, and Skeeter, a rare orange girl). After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2007 from Eastern Illinois University, she worked for three years in the clinic of a cat shelter in Chicago. She then got a job working for an emergency and specialty animal hospital, and while there, was convinced to go back to school to become a certified veterinary technician (CVT). While in school, she completed two externships in wildlife clinics, including the Cape Wildlife Center in Barnstable, MA. She graduated in 2014 and passed the VTNE that summer. A job opening at the Cape Wildlife Center presented new experiences, and she relocated to Massachusetts. She worked for almost two years in wildlife medicine at the Cape Wildlife Center as their only CVT. She returned to emergency medicine when she started at Angell-West in April 2016. Billie has a soft spot for senior cats and wants to do more hospice care in the future.
