About Katie

Katie has been a veterinary technician for more than 15 years. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Vermont in 2000, Katie worked as a dog trainer and at a general practice outside of Burlington, VT. Her dog training job included two-hour daily hikes in the woods of the Green Mountains with ten to15 off-leash boarding dogs. (This was her favorite part of the job!) Her veterinary interests included assisting with acupuncture/traditional Chinese Medicine examinations, dental prophylaxis, and surgery. After earning her certification as a veterinary technician in 2006, she moved to Woodstock, VT, and continued working as a tech in general practice. In 2008, Katie’s husband started graduate school in Boston, so she moved to Jamaica Plain, MA, and worked at the MSPCA-Angell Boston in the inpatient services department. Here, Katie developed her love of emergencies and nursing the critical care patient. She continued to work full-time as a tech until having her daughter in 2013. Katie was happy to join the team at the MSPCA-Angell West and looks forward to learning new skills.
