About Shelbie

Shelbie has been with Angell West’s ECC department since 2017; she previously worked as an emergency and critical care technician at another large hospital. She took a hiatus to pursue her career in horse training, competing and managing several large equine facilities across the state. Shelbie returned to the veterinary medicine world because it has always been her passion. Even when she was not actively working as a technician, she still found herself reading, learning, thinking about past cases, and wanting to come back to ECC. Shelbie loves all species that walk through the door and has experience owning large animals, reptiles, small animals, and pocket pets. Her interests include horse shows, dog shows, and educating and advocating for preservationist breeders of well-bred purebred dogs. Also, the importance of adopting from reputable rescues and ethical and responsible breeding as a means to combat the overpopulation of homeless and unhealthy pets. Shelbie loves spending time with her family, her horses, church, camping, teaching her son about animals and their care, hockey, martial arts, hiking, hanging out with her beloved English Springer Spaniel Jake, and of course, working!
