Show Cast Members Visited MSPCA-Angell Boston Adoption Center to Meet Eligible Dogs
BOSTON, Oct. 22, 2026 – The MSPCA-Angell and five of its Massachusetts Animal Shelter Support (MASS) coalition partners are waiving adoption fees for all dogs aged one and older this weekend, October 23-25.
The event comes as space across the MSPCA-Angell’s shelters is maxed out, with dog adoptions down roughly 19% this year compared to the same period in 2025.
“It’s no secret that adoptions have slowed down, but the number of dogs coming to us in need of new homes hasn’t changed to match that,” explained MSPCA-Angell Project Manager, Jamie Garabedian, who also noted that capacity has been stretched to help dogs affected by Hurricane Isaias. “It’s something that our shelter partners are seeing as well.”
“We’ve got more than 60 dogs available in the adoptathon in our shelters alone,” she furthered. “Plus, given everything going on these days, it’s sometimes hard to cut through the noise and get our call for help out there.”
“Lucky for us, we’ve got some special help this time!”
Love is Fee-Waived
Ten members of the season 11 Boston-based cast of Netflix’s reality dating show Love is Blind visited the MSPCA-Angell’s Boston Adoption Center on Tuesday, October 20, to meet some eligible dogs who will be available to adopt fee-free in the Love is Fee Waived event.
“We shared our adoptathon cast photos with some of the actual Love is Blind cast members, and they couldn’t resist the opportunity to help find them homes,” detailed Garabedian. “Just like they’re trying to find happily-ever-after on the show, they want to help our dogs get theirs as well, and we’re really grateful they’re getting the word out.”
Fees will be waived for all dogs aged one and older at the MSPCA-Angell’s four shelters (in Boston, Salem, Methuen, and Centerville on Cape Cod), as well as Boston Animal Control, Lowell Humane Society, Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center, Worcester Animal Rescue League, and Berkshire Humane Society.
“We’re looking to place at least 100 dogs in new homes, which is an ambitious goal, but whether you’re looking for a hiking companion, a snuggle buddy, or something in-between, we know we’ve got a pup for everyone,” added Garabedian. “All you need to find your perfect match is an open heart and some space on your couch.”
Adoption fees are being supplemented in part by Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Hours vary by location. More information may be found at mspca.org/feewaived.
