Surrender a Horse or Farm Animal at MSPCA Nevins Farm

• We ask that the animal’s owner be present at the time of surrender. If this isn’t possible, please call to make other arrangements.
• Gather your animal’s medical records, as well as the name and phone number of their most current veterinarian.
• We request a donation to help cover the costs of the animal while it is in our care. This amount may varies depending on the type of animal.

We are limited in the number of animals that we can accommodate at the farm. If there is anything we might be able to do to help you troubleshoot the situation you are facing please reach out to us. We often advise owners facing medical or behavioral issues with their horses and farm animals. We can also point you to some additional resources to help you find a new home for your horse/farm animal while they stay with you.

Are you a horse owner with a short term need? The MSPCA Emergency Equine Relief Fund may be able to help with the cost of hay, grain, or other care depending on the situation.

Rooster Surrender: We receive an average of 100 roosters a year at Nevins Farm through our Law Enforcement department activity.  Due to the nature of safely housing roosters and the many other farm birds in our care, we can not accept rooster surrenders at the farm. We encourage you to review our  list of rehoming resources to find safe placement for your roosters.

If you need to surrender your horse or farm animal to the MSPCA, we will do our best to make your animal as comfortable as possible at the farm.  It is important for you to know that we do not make euthanasia decision based on length of stay or space.  Euthanasia decisions are made when an animal is not thriving at the farm, is unsafe to manage, or is not medically or behaviorally sound for adoption.
