“Carrot” Needs Patient Adopter to Help Her Navigate the World

BOSTON, Sept. 30, 2026 – The MSPCA-Angell Boston Adoption Center is looking for a special adopter for Carrot, a roughly six-year-old stray poodle mix who was found injured in Cambridge last week.

“Carrot has been through a lot, so she’s understandably worried with new people,” explained Boston Adoption Center Director of Operations, Deborah Bobek. “We’re looking to find her a home with someone who will be patient and help her as she slowly settles in.”

Carrot underwent surgery to amputate her broken leg at the Larson Kelly Community Clinic in Boston on September 23.

“Given the severity of the break, there was no way our veterinarians could salvage Carrot’s leg, but dogs are really resilient,” Bobek said. “We know that Carrot will be able to live a happy life with three legs.”

According to Bobek, Carrot would do best in a quiet home with adopters who are willing to slowly introduce her to new things and go at her pace. She is expected to be available for adoption on Thursday, October 1.

“We expect that there will be a lot of interest in adopting Carrot, and we’re confident that we’ll be able to find her the right home,” Bobek added. “We also have plenty of other amazing dogs in our care, so we’re hoping that people who come in will keep an open mind and consider them as well.”

Those interested in adopting are asked to visit the Boston shelter during open hours on Thursday, October 1, which are noon – 3:00 p.m. (the shelter is closing an hour earlier than usual).
