Meet the Neurology Team

Rob Daniel, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology)

MSPCA-Angell Boston 

Dr. Rob Daniel became board-certified in Veterinary Neurology with the American College of Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in July 2014. He completed his Residency in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Missouri in 2014 and was awarded a Resident Research Award at the 2014 ACVIM Conference in Nashville, Tennessee that same year. He completed a Veterinary Medical and Surgical Internship at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and Referral Centre in Toronto, Ontario in 2011. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph in 2010 and graduated with distinction. He earned his BS (Honors) in Genetics from the University of Western, Ontario in 2006 and graduated on the Dean’s Honor List. Dr. Daniel is a member in good standing with the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM).

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Dr. Daniel, along with his wife and 2 children, is proud to call Boston home. His passion in veterinary neurology is in contributing to the strong bond between pets and their owners through providing medical and/or surgical expertise in the field of veterinary neurology. Special interests include short- and long-term seizure management, primary muscle/nerve diseases and neurosurgical procedures.

Michele James, DVM, DACVIM, (Neurology) Service Director

MSPCA-Angell Boston 

Dr. Michele James joined Angell in 2016 after completing her neurology residency at the University of Florida.  She received her degree in veterinary medicine from Michigan State University in 2011 and completed a rotating internship at the University of Georgia in 2012 and a neurology internship at Canada West Veterinary Specialists in 2013. She has a special interest in neurosurgery, seizures, neuromuscular disease, and meningoencephomyelitis. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, traveling, and engaging in outdoor sports. She also shares her home with two dogs, Jefe and Yoda, and a lizard, Priscilla.

Jennifer Michaels, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology)

MSPCA-Angell Boston 

Dr. Jennifer Michaels completed her pre-veterinary training at Colorado State University, majoring in biological sciences and graduating with honors, and obtained her veterinary degree with honors from Texas A&M University in 2012. She completed a small animal rotating internship in 2013 followed by a residency in neurology and neurosurgery in 2016, both at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Michaels became board-certified in Veterinary Neurology with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in July 2016.

Dr. Michaels has a passion for client, veterinary technician, and veterinarian education. Within the field of veterinary neurology, she has a special interest in neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and seizure management.  In her free time, Dr. Michaels likes to read, play the cello, and travel with her husband Martin.

Mara Follmer, CVT, Neurology Specialty Secretary

Mara began working in the animal field in 2007 and spent the next 12 years as a trainer, primarily with marine mammals and other small mammal species. In 2017, she returned to school and became a certified veterinary technician. During that time, she spent several years working at a small animal clinic, caring for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, and many other exotic animals. Mara joined the team at the MSPCA-Angell as the specialty secretary for the Neurology department in 2021. She enjoys communicating daily with the Neurology patients’ pet parents, helping them feel at ease while visiting with the team. Outside of work, Mara enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog, Louie.

Kelsey Pudder, CVT, Neurology Technician

Kelsey obtained her Veterinary Technology Degree from North Shore Community College in 2016. She had been working at a doggie daycare facility through school. In August of 2017, she joined the Neurology department at Angell, where she assists Dr. Michaels in appointments and procedures. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of such an exciting department. In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys traveling, live music, hiking, and spending time with her dogs

Jen Yao, CVT, Neurology Technician

Jen began her career in veterinary medicine at North Reading Veterinary Clinic in 2020. She immediately developed a passion for the field and pursued a veterinary technology degree from North Shore Community College, which she earned in May 2023. During her studies, she also worked at VCA Wakefield to gain hands-on experience working with exotic species. In October 2023, Jen joined the Neurology department at the MSPCA-Angell, where she assists Dr. Daniel in appointments and MRI and surgical procedures. She enjoys building client relationships and getting to know their pets’ unique personalities. Her ultimate goal is to earn her VTS in Neurology. When she’s not working, Jen loves to travel, cook, kayak, and spend time with her Dutch rabbit, Cleopatra, and two black cats, Ipswich and Salem.

Janelle Tritto, CVT, Neurology Technician

Janelle obtained her Veterinary Technology degree from Mount Ida College in 2019. In March of 2020, she joined the Neurology department at Angell, where she assists Dr. James in appointments and procedures. In 2020, Janelle became a certified veterinary technician.  She also works at a small general practice hospital where she has been since 2018. In her spare time, Janelle enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her cat Pinot.

Chelsea Sedar, Neurology Anesthesia Technician

Chelsea started working at the MSPCA-Angell in November 2023. In addition to that, she also holds a part-time position at a general practice VCA, where she worked for five years before joining Angell. Chelsea completed her associate’s degree in veterinary technology from Becker College in 2020. Outside work, she loves spending time with her family, friends, and three dogs: an English bulldog, a pug, and a French bulldog. She’s a lover of the brachycephalic breeds!

Jeanne David-Lee, Client Care Coordinator, Neurology

Originally a client of Angell’s Cardiology Service, Jeanne was so impressed with the level of care and compassion she received, she knew she would love to work here. She volunteered at our adoption center until accepting a position as a Client Liaison in 2010. Jeanne later assumed the role of Client Care Coordinator with our General Medicine  and Neurology services in March of 2013. She has over 15 years of experience in client service, which when combined with her love for all animals, makes her a perfect fit for her role. She shares her home with her two dogs; Diesel, a Doberman, and Gisele, a Pit Bull that she adopted from our shelter.

Annika Lederman, Client Care Coordinator (General Medicine and Neurology)

Annika began her career at Angell as a Client Care Specialist in 2022. While at the front desk, she became interested in the behind-the-scenes action and desired a more hands-on experience with the patients.

She started as a Client Care Coordinator for the Neurology and General Medicine team in early 2023, where she enjoys the balance of working with both humans and animals. She loves being involved in patient care and appreciates that she is learning more about veterinary medicine every day.

Annika enjoys skateboarding, reading, and film photography when she’s not at work.
