Angell is one of the only veterinary hospitals in the Northeast to offer in-house clinical and anatomic pathology services, including rapid processing of intra-operative biopsy specimens. This translates to faster diagnoses and in-house laboratory experts.
Our board-certified staff pathologists provide diagnostic evaluation of cytology and biopsy specimens and necropsy service. The pathology team incorporates clinical laboratory professionals who provide hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, endocrinology, and parasitology diagnostic services to Angell veterinary specialists, interns, and residents.
The Angell Pathology team offers clinically oriented pathology services. We take an interest in individual cases, encourage clinical correlates and feedback, and welcome case consultations via phone or email. Our anatomic and clinical pathologists maintain high-quality service through detailed reports, practical case comments, and competitive turnaround time. When necessary, we consult other specialists regarding the more challenging disease processes. Select cases are reviewed in pathology rounds, allowing open discussion among pathologists, general practitioners, veterinary specialists, residents, interns, and veterinary technicians.
Point-of-care testing (POCT) or bedside (“cage-side”) testing is available 24/7 at or near the site of patient care, should the need arise to provide immediate test results in critical cases. Point-of-care instrumentation allows for 24-hour-a-day support for monitoring blood gas, osmolality, electrolytes, coagulation, clinical chemistry, and co-oximetry in critically ill patients.
Necropsy and Mail-in submissions: Our laboratory accepts mail-in submissions for tissues collected from necropsy, cytology, and histopathology. Please view the links at the bottom of the page for information regarding services offered, sample requirements, packaging and shipping biopsies, turnaround time, and background information about our laboratory and staff.
