Dr. Allukian completed her Emergency and Critical Care Residency at Tufts University in 2016, where she also received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She stayed at Tufts for a year as a clinical lecturer.  After graduating, she undertook a small animal rotating internship at Angell Memorial Animal Medical Center.  This experience was the foundation for her desire to pursue specialty training in emergency and critical care. She joined Angell’s team in January 2018.

Dr. Bracker is a boarded criticalist and co-directs Angell’s Emergency and Critical Care (E/CC) service in Boston with Dr. Meg Whelan. In 1997, Dr. Bracker completed his internship at Southwest Veterinary Specialty Center in Tucson, AZ, where he then worked for several years in their busy emergency service. In 2002, he accepted a residency position at Angell before becoming an Angell staff veterinarian in 2005 in the Emergency/Critical Care Department. Dr. Bracker oversees Angell’s E/CC residency program.

Dr. Cazlan earned her undergraduate degree in Veterinary Technology from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, before going on to attend veterinary school at Iowa State University. Following graduation, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at Angell Animal Medical Center. Following her internship year, Dr. Cazlan worked in RI for a few years as an emergency veterinarian at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists.  Ultimately, Dr. Cazlan decided to return to Boston to come back to Angell. She enjoys the fast pace and challenge of emergency medicine. Dr. Cazlan has a special interest in cardiology, endocrine emergencies, autoimmune disease, and feline medicine.

Dr. Chan earned a degree in Physiology from UCLA and went on to study veterinary medicine at Michigan State University. He finished a rotating internship at Angell in 2020 and briefly moved to Illinois. Despite the appeal of eating a deep-dish pizza every week for 8 months, Dr. Chan elected to return to Angell for its variety of interesting cases, awesome colleagues, and multi-specialty offerings. He has special interests in radiology and NPR podcasts.

Dr. Nicole D’Addezio graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. After earning her degree, she completed a one-year rotating internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in Rhode Island. She worked for two years with Ocean State’s ER service before joining the Veterinary Emergency Group in Boston. Dr. D’Addezio is keenly interested in emergency medicine but is also passionate about shelter medicine and animal welfare in underserved communities. She works for the MSPCA Boston Adoption Center in conjunction with Angell’s ECC service.

Dr. Frydman holds positions in the Division of Trauma, Emergency Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at the Massachusetts General Hospital and in the Division of Comparative Medicine at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she specializes in coagulopathies and immunothrombosis. Dr. Frydman has completed several fellowships at MIT, HMS and MGH, where she has developed and patented multiple diagnostic and medical devices. She has published numerous papers and book chapters on coagulation, platelet physiology, immunothrombosis and stem cell biology.

Dr. Gay has worked as an emergency doctor at several veterinary specialty hospitals, learning from board-certified specialists in emergency and critical care, medicine, and surgery.  In 2002, Dr. Gay opened his own veterinary emergency hospital, rapidly becoming trusted for delivering high-quality emergency care to owners and their pets.  As an emergency doctor, Dr. Gay recognized the importance of anesthesia and pain control in critically ill dogs and cats and pursued specialty training in anesthesia and analgesia (pain relief) at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Whelan is the Chief Medical Officer of Angell in Boston and she co-directs the Emergency and Critical Care service with Dr. Bracker. Dr. Whelan is a 2003 graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a one-year internship program at Angell and a three-year E/CC residency at Tufts before joining Angell’s senior staff. She is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, and is also Director of Angell’s Internship Program. As Internship Director, Dr. Whelan oversees the clinical education of new veterinarians as they rotate through all of Angell’s specialty services.

Martha graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 2004. Soon after graduating in 2005, she became a part of the Angell team in the Inpatient Services department, primarily working in the Critical Care Unit (CCU), and has been a lead technician since 2011.  Along with her technician certification, she obtained her specialty certification in emergency and critical care in 2014.  When she is not busy saving lives in our CCU, Martha enjoys traveling and her time outdoors with family and friends. Kayaking, camping, and lounging on the beach are just a few of her favorites. Martha lives just outside of Boston with her goofy Boston terrier, Vern, and three cats: Mumfie, Blue Boy, and Mingo.

Rocio has worked as an ICU nurse since 2004.  She was an Inpatient supervisor at Angell from 2004-2008.  She then worked at VCA Brookline as their lead technician until 2012. From 2012-2021 Rocio worked as the Clinical Technical Supervisor at Boston West Emergency and Critical Care (the Mass Vet Referral satellite hospital).  She managed all the technicians at that practice (ECC, IM, Surgery, Radiology, Ophthalmology) and worked on the clinical floor.  Rocio is fluent in Spanish, and some of her hobbies are photography, yoga, and hiking.

Melanie decided on a career change after many years as a successful Chef. She had always been inter
ested in animal biology with studies from the University of Buffalo. After nursing 2 20yr old cats at home, she knew she’d found her second passion.Melanie began working at Angell 14 years ago as a primary care attendant while she completed her veterinary technician degree through an online program at St. Petersburg College in Fl. She obtained her certification and became a CVT in 2005 and achieved her VTS (ECC) certification in 2016.  Melanie has been a Lead Critical Care technician since 2009.Melanie still loves to cook at home and baking treats for her fellow employees. She spends her free time traveling with her husband and relaxing with her cats, Yoda and Clementine.

Tina graduated from Becker College in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science. She joined the Angell team in 2005 as an attendant and moved into a Critical Care Unit technician position in 2006. Tina received her Veterinary Technician Specialist Certification in Emergency and Critical Care in 2014 and has been an Inpatient Services Lead technician since 2019. Outside of work Tina enjoys spending time with her family and their cat, Lola.
