MSPCA at Nevins Farm Reading Program

NevinsFarmReadingProgramLooking for an activity that will boost your six- to ten-year old’s reading confidence and help animals at the same time? Register for the Nevins Reading Program! Accompanied by a parent or guardian, children will read out loud to an adoring canine, feline, or even rabbit audience in this fun family event. While your child practices reading, you’ll also be providing valuable social time to our adoptable animals. Starting in early September and running through May, this free program will run on the first Sunday of the month from 11am-12pm at Nevins Farm.  Bring your favorite book, or borrow one from the MPSCA library. Advance registration is required, so please email the Humane Education Department at for more information.

Participation in this program is free, but advance registration is required.

All participants must have a parent or guardian present for the duration of the program. This event is appropriate for children who are learning to read, and/or could benefit from some practice reading out loud (~ 1st – 4th grade).   Please note that due to the nature of this program, and the limited space, we regretfully cannot accommodate younger siblings at this event (or any other unregistered guests).  We do hold a free weekly program for children who are aged pre-k and toddlers called Little Bookworms, please check this wonderful program out for your younger children.

We gratefully acknowledge Wesley and Sharon Wratchford for their sponsorship of the Nevins Reading Program.
