WHO WE ARE

Angell has served the greater Boston and scenic New England area as a primary care facility, a 24-hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center for over a century.

Angell is a premier veterinary institution staffed by 55 senior veterinarians, 20 interns, and 15 residents.  Angell offers specialty services in anesthesiology, avian and exotic medicine, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, and surgery. Angell is a rich educational environment offering weekly on-site continuing education seminars and regular multi-disciplinary specialty rounds attended by specialists from local prestigious hospitals.

Angell is part of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), one of the oldest and most respected humane organizations in the world. Working for a veterinary hospital that clearly delivers on its mission of advancing the health and welfare of animals adds a wonderful dimension to delivering high quality veterinary medicine.

Our doctors practice in an ~ 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hospital containing a critical care unit, blood bank, multiple specialty rooms, 7 surgical suites, full service clinical laboratory, microbiology service, necropsy suite, histopathology laboratory for on-site biopsy evaluation. Angell’s Diagnostic Imaging Center has an 80-slice Canon Aquilon Lightning CT scanner, and an MRI 1.5 T unit with a C-Arm for fluoroscopic imaging.

ANGELL ONCOLOGY SERVICE

Our current medical oncology staff is comprised of two board certified medical oncologists, 7 medical oncology technicians, 2 attendants, 3 RT anesthesia technicians, an oncology manager, two ECC, VTS  supervisors, two certified radiation therapists, two service secretaries, and 4 client care coordinators. We have a new 800, state-of-the-art chemotherapy room staffed by a pharmacist and a pharmacy technician. We have a boarded radiation oncologists who is also boarded in medical oncology. In addition, our oncology service prides itself on a close collaborative relationship with our Surgery service and our clinical and anatomic pathologists to provide a complete in-house service unique in its approach to managing oncology patients.

Our radiation oncology service has just installed a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator. Angell is the first site in New England to offer stereotactic radiation in addition to traditionally fractionated 3D conformal and intensity modulated radiation therapy. Our current oncology staff is comprised of two board certified medical oncologists, three oncology technicians, a certified radiation therapist and service secretary.

THE POSITION

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible veterinary medical oncologist. The qualified individual will be responsible for receiving patients with problems limited to the specialty of medical oncology, participation in mentorship and training of the medicine residents and interns, providing consultations to the Angell veterinary staff and acting as a resource to our referral community.

Requirements  Qualified applicants must have a DVM or equivalent and ACVIM (oncology) board certification. Board eligible candidates or those having completed an ACVIM (oncology) residency will be considered.
